This is a great device. I was unsure whether to get the Catch-all or the Dirt Devil Sweeper Vac w/ swiffer.. so I bought them both and put them to the test. The Catch-All was the clear winner and my opinion was seconded by my girlfriend in her own unbiased test. The Catch-All's soft rotating brush allowed it to pick up small particles (crumbs and such) while the Sweeper Vac failed to suck them up and resulted in the swiffer pad pushing them around. The seperate battery pack makes the CatchAll much easier to recharge and store and it makes less noise than the SweeperVac. The CatchAll is great for quick daily passes of the high traffic tile in my house and it still amazes me how much pet hair it grabs up in my everyday use. I've tried tons of floor care products and this one has won me over. I returned the Dirt Devil the next day and bought the Bissell Steam Mop which I also found to be a fantastic addition to the CatchAll.

Not as good as I'd hoped,

After reading other's reviews, I was excited to try this handy sweeper out. The concept is a great one and would seem to take most of the work of sweeping your bare floors. I was disappointed for a few reasons: 1. The vaccuum doesn't seem to be nearly powerful enough. The baby always has a lot of crumbs under her chair, and the kids have crumbs under their stools. When I've tried the catch all, I've had to go over it so many times that it really is easier just to use a small broom with the dustpan that has a tall handle on it. 2. The front of the vacuum seems like it should be a bit higher to be able to catch bigger crumbs. If there are many crumbs, I have to lift the vacuum head up and over the crumbs to be able to suction them. 3. It doesn't seem to get the floor clean enough to be mop ready. If I'm going to mop, I feel like I have to use the broom or there will be random crumbs all over. 4. The battery doesn't sit tight in the slot and so when I run the catch-all, the connection keeps on missing so the vacuum turns off. So I have to keep tapping the battery back to get the vacuum going again. This is really irritating to have the vacuum keep going on and off! (After tapping the battery 5 or 6 times, it does seem to stay in and I can finish vacuuming after that.) Although it was not nearly as good as I'd hoped, I will probably still keep it around for quick sweeps when I don't feel like putting in the extra effort of sweeping to get a completely clean floor or the baby hasn't dumped a ton of crumbs on the floor so I have to use a broom. Now if you're pregnant, I can really see this being a great help (it will minimize the amount you have to bend over!)

I've been looking for a stick broom to replace my regular broom and dust mop. I have gone through many different kinds of stick brooms and have been unsatisfied with all of them. They either didn't pick up much, or the intake would get clogged or whatever.
I had heard about the Swiffer Vac and thought I'd come here to check out opinions on it. So many seemed unfavorable, and I came across a few opinions that suggested the Catch-All from Bissell was much better. I went ahead and ordered this vac from Amazon and it's just awesome. For something that looks like a toy (my kids think it is!!), it picks up everything. I have tile in my entry, hall and kitchen/dining areas and this even got the little crumbs out of the grout lines, that's how strong that little battery operated suction is. It's also much more quiet than any other stick vac I've used. I put it to the test last week when, before I mopped, I decided to check it against a regular broom/dustpan. I used the Catch-All first, and when I was done I used my regular broom to see what the Catch All might have missed. NOTHING!! I am truely impressed! The ONLY thing I can think of negative to say about it is it won't sweep my baseboards like I could do with a broom. But that's fine by me. When I do my detailed cleaning, I'll pull out the broom for the baseboards, but otherwise, I'll never use a broom or another stick vac again!! The battery has never run out on me. And some people claim the dirt cup is too small. I've never had that problem, maybe because I do it every day (with 3 kids and a hubby, and a dog, I have to!) It's very light weight, my 3 year old loves to use it too! And I like that I can use any kind of cloth (swiffer, pledge, generic), I'm sure even a dishcloth sprayed with an electrostatic spray would even work. What a brilliant idea. I wish I came up with it!

I have purchased many items through Amazon, yet I've never written a review. That's how thrilled I am after using this terrific little vacuum-broom-dusting thing for the first time. I have one dog, two cats and one fiance, and all of their furry deposits are now in the garbage can in two dense, neat clumps. Unless the battery turns out to suck, I will be rushing home after work each day to run my new best friend around all the bare floors in the house.

After using this the first few times, I planned on giving it a crap review. Stuff just seemed to get pushed around. Then I turned it around the other way. OK, so I'm an idiot. In any case, when you run this thing vacuum first, it picks up lots. One of the main reasons I got it is for the litter that my cats can't seem to keep IN the litter box. Every time I clean the box, I run this little thing to clean up the mess. It works excellently. I also use it before wetjetting my kitchen. I don't love the Bissel cloths they enclose, but it takes my Swiffer cloths so I don't care. This seems to do a good job of picking up pet fur, litter, crumbs and dirt, etc. The only thing it wouldn't pick up are the bits of cat food around the cat dish.

I tried this vacuum for the first time today. I am very pleased with it. I have 3 kids ages 5, 2, and 1 and one long-haired dog. I also have over 1600 square feet of ceramic tile. We recently moved in and I noticed my regular vacuum just wasn't cutting it on the tile. And it was too inconvenient to pull out the broom and dustpan for every little mess, especially with two little ones who don't know how to stay out of the dirt piles! Not to mention that cleaning all the dust and hair out of a regular broom was definitely not one of my favorite chores. Now it's so easy to whip out this vacuum and take care of any little visible dirt quickly and easily before it gets tracked around. This vacuum is an excellent value for the price. For $30 (sale price I paid) you can't expect it to work miracles. No machine will replace a good, careful broom sweeping, just as no floor steam cleaner can replace scrubbing the floor on your hands and knees. It does a much better job of cleaning the floors than my regular vacuum. It picks up all the debris in its path instead of kicking it out in front. It is not all that loud, quieter than a regular vacuum for sure. It is easy to operate and manuver. The vacuum is the size and weight of a manual floor push vacuum. I haven't tried it with the electrostatic cloths but even without them it picked up a lot of fine dustbunny type debris, as well as small leaves and wrappers, in addition to a lot of crumbs. After sweeping about 500 sq ft of tile the dust cup was only about 1/8 full, and was very easy to empty and clean. No, it doesn't get all the dirt out of all the cracks and crevices, but neither does a regular vacuum even on carpet, without using the vacuum's wand extension. About diminished battery usage--that is a problem with just about any device of this kind, whether cordless hand tools, camcorders, notebook computers, or whatever. Running the batteries for a few minutes at a time without ever fully draining them greatly diminishes their battery life. As the manual clearly states, it's best to occasionally completely drain the battery and then fully charge it. If you've gone a long time without doing this, you may have to do it several times to get the power back up to where it should be. The main drawback of this vacuum in my opinion is that it doesn't clean any type of carpet, so I will still have to haul the regular vacuum downstairs for the oriental rugs. All in all, though, I consider it $30 very well spent!

I really like most of the features of the Catch All. It cleans a floor in a way that no broom ever could. The floors just feel CLEAN under bare feet. I also love that it is cordless. I only wish that the collection cup was a little bigger. I live in Hawaii, with 18,000 sq ft of linoleum and the red dirt here is awful. It has been a huge help with my dd allergies though. She sweeps her floor each night and it really helps to keep down pollen and dust that would accumulate in her room.

If you live in a house without carpet you need one of these. If you don't have one you are either walking on dirty floors or working way too hard. Military housing does not have carpeting, all the floors all over my entire apartment is the exact same ugly linoleum tiles. I can sweep and swiffer the whole place which is about 999 sq ft on one charge in about 15 minutes. The charge can last longer that 15 minutes though, I think I've actually gone for about 25 min. It's great to be able to walk around bear foot or no to have to worry about that little speck for my just crawling infant to find and put in his mouth. If you are really lazy like me I would also sugguest a steam mop. And of course a Swiffer wet jet for quick clean ups around the highchair after breakfast, lunch and dinner. Face it, being a homemaker isn't easy! So if there is anything that you buy to make your life easier get it. Your husband won't mind once he sees the difference.

making housework that much easier,

I bought this because using a Swiffer/traditional broom combination just wasn't working for a two-bedroom apartment with all hardwood floors and two indoor cats. It's easy to set up, you can use any brand of electrostatic cloth with it, and it picks up all the grit that merely gets pushed around with a Swiffer or a broom. It gets stray cat litter (the bane of my life) like a charm, and it's easy to clean the brushes and dirt catcher as well. I only wish that the vacuum was a little stronger, but I can't complain. Dump your broom; this is worth the investment.

Battery needs work,

This review is from: Bissell 3107B Catch-All Vac (Kitchen)
I purchased this item this summer and at first it was great, picked up everything, until the battery life went south. It would work for a few minutes on full-power and then it was going dead but would run for 20 minutes. Thought I might have over charged the batter and ruined it so I purchased another one and this one I made sure that I didn't over charge the battery and the same thing happened again. Maybe I got two batterys that were lemons but what are my chances. It was great while it lasted. $20.00 a battery is not worth it if it only works for a few months....
