Quiet and Ineffective,

This review is from: Bissell OptiClean Cyclonic Canister Vacuum, Bagless, 66T61 (Kitchen)
This unit has so far proven that it is both quiet and not entirely effective. In the past I have both owned and have been very pleased with Bissell products. On this particularly occasion I do not find myself sitting in that corner of improvement.
On each of my area rugs this unit takes several passes to pick up the most mild of materials. I have three large rugs of varying depth and material to provide an excellent range of a testing base. On the hardwood floors it does more to collect debris in the head of the unit rather than actually pull objects into the deposit container. If transitioning from floor to carpet this results in the debris being deposited onto the rug. Several passes later it will eventually collect what the deposits it left behind. On the positive outlook the unit itself is fairly quiet and the attachments are of good quality construction. While the vacuum is an affordable option I would advise against the purchase.

great little vacuum,

I've been looking for a small vacuum to leave upstairs in my house so I wouldn't have to lug a heavy Sears POS canister vac around. I saw this in Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $99 and with a 20% off coupon i bought it for $80. This vac is relatively quiet, has very good suction, is light and the bag less feature doesn't bother me as i figure I'm saving money on bags. I have 2 dogs so pet hair is a problem but not with this vac. The only gripe I have and it is a minor one is the cord could be a little longer but it is retractable. I would give it a six star rating if it had a power nozzle but what do you expect for $80.

I've only been using this vacuum for a few weeks so I can't comment on durability just yet, but so far I'm very pleased and would buy again.
Pros: fairly lightweight and easy to move around; relatively small and easy to store; the cord is plenty long enough to get around my oddly-shaped apartment that has very few outlets; the suction is adjustable and works well on both my hardwood floors and on area rugs; all the attachments fit on board the vacuum; the price is reasonable; the vacuum head is relatively small and fits under the ledge under my cabinets and under my baseboard heaters, which makes it easier to clean. Cons: the vacuum hose is pretty short, which means bending over a bit awkwardly to vacuum; it might be a little messy to empty the dust cup, but that's to be expected from a bagless, and is worth it to not have to buy bags; the vacuum probably isn't made of the highest-quality materials, but is appropriate to the price

I was looking for a canister vacuum cleaner that I could leave upstairs. I was delighted when I first used this product. The suctions was great and the ease of accessing the "cup" to dump out the contents was handy. After 2 weeks, my vacuum has zero suction power and is pretty much useless. I will be returning it to Bissell, but the aggravation (and inconvenience) that I had with this product, I would not recommend it to anyone. I don't want a replacement, I just want my money back.

We love our little Bissell. For an apartment that is entirely hardwood and tile, it is perfect. There is plenty of suction for hard floors. We have one rug that our little Bissell does a good enough job on, but if we had a carpeted room, I don't think our little Bissell could handle it satisfactorily.
The quality seems quite good for most of the parts--I especially like the built in compartment for spare heads. The rollers on the main head are great. It is also fairly lightweight and quiet. Bottom line: if you have mostly hardwood and tile, the little Bissell is ready to go to work for you--you won't be disappointed, but if you've got much carpet, look at something else.

bissell opticlean bagless 66T61,

as a user of an upright vacuum for many years, i switched to a cordless broom style ([...]) for use on our tile and hardwood floors. it's awesome, lightweight, handy and stores away nicely. but it's not the complete answer. we have carpet on 2 flights of stairs, in a closet and occasionally need to vacuum the couches because we have a long haired cat. This fills that need nicely!
a few observations: 1. lightweight 2. stores easily 3. compact 4. drags behind you easily (who knew) 5. BAGLESS - what a concept! 6. unique power cord system - uncoils and retracts almost like magic. you only pull it a bit to plug it in and then step on a giant button to reel it back in (look mom, no hands!) 7. great suction (universally key) 8. nifty attachments (the usual suspects: long, thin; brush; small suction tool) 9. great attachment and large, useful hose storage 10. ease of use rating = 9 (it still has a cord. dang) in short, this is a great vacuum for hardwood and tile and for carpeted steps. could not speak to how it would work with a lot of carpeting. the only chink in its armor might be that, as a careless vacuumer, i let it bang into the floorboards as i round corners going from room to room. *the paint that i'm pulling off sticks to the exterior of the vacuum.* it will probably come off with some effort and i'll have to learn to vacuum with better precision =)

This vacuum doesn't suck!,

This vacuum has little to no suction power. You can hold the hose up to your hand and feel suction, yet when you put the hose (with ANY of the attachments or solo) to the floor in question, it does not suck up anything. Even when it manages to suck anything up, it spits it back out as soon as you try to suck up something else. Emptying the canister and cleaning out the brushes on the attachments have little to no effect on this suckless vacuum. VERY FRUSTRATING!

great filtration system, requires only 4 filters $26 plus tax and shipping = $35. It's quiet and lightweight, has very short cord, low quality hose and no suction. I need vacuum to clean my carpets not pump air through numerous filters. Too many spare parts to replace too often will mean both unpractical and expensive situation. The Mercedes of all vacuums! I like Bosch and Samsung with one washable filter and a good cleaning power, they have longer cords too.

Happy with the product, although it gets a bit loud while vacuuming. Also, works fine on hardfloors, which is what I have, but carpet... much harder!! The vacuum is not too heavy to carry around.

As other canister vacuums, it is much easier to work with than with an upright vacuum, simply because you don't have to drag the bag or container, the motor and everything with each swipe of the head. It also doesn't take up more space in the closet but not much less either than an upright. The only downside is that there are no rotating brushes inside the head which make it less efficient in cleaning some carpets. The suction strength is however way higher and the smaller, lighter head fits under many things an upright could never do. This is a good vacuum for the money, easy to work with, good on any surfaces and not very noisy (I've already seen more silent canister vacuums, but this one beats all the upright vacuums I've tried so far).
