I expected more from #2,
By
This review is from: Is the Bitch Dead, Or What?: The Ritz Harper Chronicles Book 2 (Paperback)
I was a little disappointed with the second installment of The Ritz Harper Chronicles. I enjoyed "Drama is her Middle Name" and expected the authors to raise the bar with #2. This novel lost its steam half way through. But I'm not going to pass judgment just yet...there are two more installments to go... If you didn't read the first book you won't be lost, all the drama is clearly recalled and the book is well written. I liked all the characters and am anxious to see if Miss Ritz "Bitch" Harper opens up her hard heart and lets SOMEBODY in. Locksie ARC Book Club Inc. Star Rating 3.5***

This was a quick read! I have to say the first installment was better because there was so much more drama so that is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of a 5. Looking forward to the next installment. I personally never heard Wendy Williams on radio but I love reading the Ritz Harper chronicles, both Wendy Williams & Karen Hunter write well together.

I expected Wendy to bring it but she didn't. The story was ok;however I wanted so much more. Drama is Her Middle Name was soooo much better than the second installment. The writing was very basic and not descriptive enough.

Cruising For a Bruising,

Cruising For a Bruising
`Is the Bitch Dead or What?' by Wendy Williams and Karen Hunter highlighted the life of Ritzgina `Ritz' Harper. Ritz was the most successful radio DJ in New York City. She was known for being a shock jock because she was always exposing someone's deepest secrets. Her revelations had ended a rap artist's career, uprooted a preacher's marriage, and even sent her best friend, Tracee, into retirement. The station's employees also felt the brunt of her brash behavior and `divatude' but accepted it because she was successful. She kept ratings up and WHOT on top of the charts and everyone respected that, so they would deal with her demands and insults until the numbers were different. While leaving the studio one evening, Ritz became the victim of a drive-by shooting. Tracee was not allowed to visit with Ritz, so the next of kin had to be contacted. Aunt Maddie and Uncle Cecil had not spoken to Ritz recently due to an argument they had but they wanted to be supportive of their niece, whom they had raised since she was a child. Upon their arrival, Ritz was comatose. In her state of unconsciousness, Ritz talked with her deceased mother about life, love, mistakes, and forgiveness. Ritz, true to form, dismissed most of the lessons her mother attempted to help her see. The truth laid in limbo, as did Ritz Harper. Her reality was as unstable as her breathing. Was she really the bitch she portrayed on her radio show, `The Ritz Harper Excursion'? Would she realize how delicate life is, if she made it? Or will she survive and be more treacherous than before? Wendy Williams and Karen Hunter put together a well-paced novel. They developed their characters thoroughly and I did not witness any grammatical errors. Is the Bitch Dead or What? is the second book to The Ritz Harper Chronicles. The first installment is titled `Drama is Her Middle Name'. Is the Bitch Dead or What? is definitely a stand alone as I was unaware of the first novel and enjoyed it. I did not feel unconnected to the story in the least. I recommend this novel to any reader who likes drama and celebrity scandal. I also cannot help but wonder if Wendy has a little of Ritz in herself. There is definitely going to be a third novel and I hope Wendy does not keep her audience waiting too long. Reviewed by Darnetta Frazier APOOO BookClub

2nd Book was good but first was better,

This picks up where "Drama Is Her Middle Name" left off. Unresolved items from book 1 get resolved in book 2 and crazy twists also come up in book 2 along with tragedy. Ritz is still a bad itch even after pulling thru a major ordeal and sadly not remotely greatful nor blessed for it. While I understand her wanting to maintain her top dog radio show spot it was rather sad that even with the death of her Aunt (who took care of her as a kid) she could have shown more humbleness or be as Wendy would say "more soft and pink". Ritz was all about flash and image instead of allowing herself to grieve appropiately for her family loss.
Nonetheless as an uber fan of Wendy's show I still can't wait for the third installment of her book. Will motherhood soften Ritz and make her reprioritize her life or will she still be "going hard"?? I am an enquiring mind who wants to know!!

How thirsty is our community that we have made this woman a semi-star?? She's wack on the radio and she's wack in her book. Who is supporting this broad (man, I mean)?

I loved, loved drama is her middle name. The 2nd installment did not live up to the fast paced drama as the first one did. i was more than a little dissappointed with this book. There are some well rounded characters that show Wendy does have some compassion up under that iced heart of hers I know this character not only bears a strong physical resemblance to wendy but this is also her way of giving us some insight on how she treat people which is sad. a lot of lessons are learned by others but not Ritz who really needs a reality check. I only listen to Wendy for the drama and she really didn't bring it this go round. if you're not going to bring it on the next installment then just please do as ther title of this review suggests with the ritz harper chronicles and stick to dishing dirt over the radio waves.
there were some supposedly some jaw dropping moments like her jacuzzi repair guy that she wanted to maul in bed being her brother which wasn't even that dramatic. i loved the forgivenss of rev lakes and i loved the aunt, uncle and Tracee. Hopefully with the third installment Wendy and Karen will come on with the come on like i know they can. Wendy, you still have the heat right?

Got time to waste?,

I am a listener to "Miss Wendy" here in NY and when this book came out I didn't plan on buying it just because as an avid reader I couldn't picture her writing a novel. I still can't. It came to me automatically because of a book club I belong to so I read it. It's really juvenile. I mean the Ritz character is sooooo overdone and I felt like yelling out, "I get it! She's a B****!" I liked the Tracee character alot since she was the one who had some sense. I know Williams had help on this novel as she did with her bios and Ritz #1. All I can say is with two people working on this book, we should have got better. Like I said, if you have time to waste read this then give it away. You won't read it again. Williams really needs to stay in her lane.
