Meredith Brooks song ~Bitch~ is fantastic. I do not in any way find her use of the word offensive in this context. Especially as she is referring to herself. The lyrics are right on. I am a feminist in my mid 50's. Many of us fought long and hard not to be called Chick and Bitch and WORSE. That has nothing to do with this song. Listen to it. I too have many facets to my personality all of which make up me!! Meredith captures that beautifully in this anthem to being loved by someone who knows all of the many sides of you, some better than others, and loves you for who you are. Does it get any better than that ? No. Plus the beat rocks. If you do not have this song you are missing out on a classic gem.

Man, I feel like a woman(!),

Meredith Brooks' "B*tch" is a quasi-feminist ode that hit it big nearly a decade ago. Since Meredith is a feminist and her song is apparently about feminine empowerment, it's okay for her to use a word that's commonly understood as an insult. She sings of her many facets--she's a b*tch, she's an angel, she's a lover, she's a daughter, and so on. Meredith, being the One Hit Wonder at the millennium, channels then angsty diva Alanis Morrissette. She's the Angry Female who can Cry. Tough, yet tender. Sweet, yet sour. "B*tch" is Brooks' feminist one hit wonder song.
