Has some songs you might've forgotten,... or tried to, October 10, 2010
This review is from: Bitchin Hits: Fantastic Femmes (Audio CD)
Okay, once you get over the shame of buying a CD called "Bitchin' Hits" (I got it in a twofer with "Lipstick Hits"), you discover some songs that you wouldn't want to buy a whole album for. And some that you wished you'd acquired before.
For me, the latter songs include "Sisters are Doin it For Themselves," an anthem with Annie Lennox of the Eurhythmics dueling with Aretha Franklin, and the fireworks are unforgettable. Sheena Easton's overlooked "Strut" still gets my hips moving. Other songs on this album don't seem to jive with the 80s grrl rock theme (Melissa Manchester's "You Should Hear How She Talks About You?"), and then there's Tracy Ullman's oddball "They Don't Know."
In all, if you can get this as cheap as I did (less than the price of lunch), you oughtn't be disappointed.
