1.0 out of 5 stars not what I expected
I enjoy the show on The Cooking Channel but did not expect some of the images in the book. I know the characters are funny and exaggerated but there were a few pictures that I thought were actually unappetizing and couldn't see where they fit in the cookbook. I returned the book for that reason. Hoping for something different from a future cookbook from Nadia G.

Eh, shaddap. I grabbed it right off the shelf just because the cover was so thoroughly insane. So was the book. Not having seen any of the show, I watched a few. Great stuff.

I've complained in the past that there's a lack of culinary humor out there. Nadia Giosia has done a remarkably fun (and borderline lunatic) job of helping to remedy that with her over-the-top screen presence and her tasty and creative recipes, and this book, a loud, often-hilarious menu cookbook that includes transcripts of the dialogue from the show along with frequent cheesecake shots of Nadia and three of her four male cast members, captures the spirit of the TV show perfectly, then goes it one better by concentrating the insanity into wall-to-wall photo collages loaded with food porn, costumes, and sight gags. The food is heavily Italian-accented, but well-chosen for each episode theme, with a strong New American (New Canadian?) accent.

If I have any complaints with it, it's that Nadia sometimes overplays her guidette character, using slang that I can only assume is rather more common in Canada than it is here in the US. That, and Hans... ick. Just too much 'bag in that character. (But hey, maybe the female and/or gay readers appreciate him more than I would.) But the food is excellent and the writing is fun and off-the-wall. Grab it, and use it to follow along with the show.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bitchin' Kitchin', November 1, 2010

I just discovered Nadia and her show on the Cooking Channel. Apparently, from reading the book, she has been around for a while on the internet but I THINK the show is new.

She is very funny and entertaining. An "Edgy" food show if there is such a thing, the Punk Rock version of a cooking show. Like Anthony Bourdain if he were a smokin hot italian chic but happier and with a better sense of humor.

If you like cooking shows with humor whether you would consider actually making the dishes or not, you will like the show. The book is filled with a lot of humor as well as recipes at least some of which I would actually try and make.

5.0 out of 5 stars A highly prized and recommended addition to personal cookbook collections, March 10, 2009
This review is from: Bitchin' Kitchen Cookbook: Rock Your Kitchen--And Let the Boys Clean Up the Mess (Paperback)
Nadia G is the creator of a hit, hip, an award winning web and mobile cooking show and the source of the recipes she has gathered together to create "Nadia G's Bitchin' Kitchen Cookbook". Colorfully and provocatively illustrated throughout, Nadia G laces humor with her recipe instructions for 'kitchen cook friendly' dishes ranging from such exotic items as Chile raspberry Parfait, to mouth watering fare as a Chicken & Banana Curry, to such personal favorites as her Pot Au Chocolate. There's even such unexpected and unique dishes as Parsnip Chips with Sour Cream & Green Onion Dip (ideal for party time) and depression fighting fare like her Splitsville Salad with Caramelized Figs. Unique, unusual, and culinary cutting edge, "Nadia G's Bitchin' Kitchen Cookbook" is a highly prized and recommended addition to personal cookbook collections.

5.0 out of 5 stars A 'Foodies' Secret Book for Date Night Romance Food., May 9, 2011

This book is
1. Amazing Quality
2. Amazing Pictures
3. Freaking Funny!

I watch Bitchen Kitchen and use her receipes for my date night as I like to cook for my girl. This is very unique and interesting, all which can be done cheaply (ok minus the sugared Tulip Petals) So as a Culinary type, this food presents well and taste amazing.

She has woven it into sections from 'Breakups' to 'Makeups' and on and on which adds to the jokes. And in the back is a nice glossary of all the food used.

Seriously as one who owns Martha Steward to Great French Chef's books, this one stands right up there with the best.

So Purchase it and start Scoffing the food already!

5 star cookbook. Love it. Although the binding could be better. The pages fell out of the binding in just 3 weeks.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book should be schaffed by every semi-serious cook!, January 4, 2011

This review is from: Bitchin' Kitchen Cookbook: Rock Your Kitchen--And Let the Boys Clean Up the Mess (Paperback)
Recently having been forced to watch both the Food Network and Cooking Channel for hours on end, I found Bitchin' Kitchen to be a gale force breath of fresh, if not garlicky, air! The half hour TV program is just isn't enough for her die-hard fans, hence the book. One of my favorite sections is the glossary of terms, which you can view before you buy on this website. The show's humor is incredibly fast paced, so hitting pause and looking up an unfamiliar term can help keep you in the know! Wish it would be re-printed in hardback and personally autographed by the whole gang. I'd sure pay double for that! By the way, the recipies are legit, creative, and very flavorful. Even if you can't boil water without setting off smoke alarms, get this book! It also doubles as a fine (albeit undersized) coffee table book & conversation starter because the grahpics on evey page are fantastic. And, you will laugh your tokus off!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super-funny and lots of good recipes, January 9, 2012

This review is from: Bitchin' Kitchen Cookbook: Rock Your Kitchen--And Let the Boys Clean Up the Mess (Paperback)
I love this show, so of course I had to have the book. I love it! Not only are there lots of yummy recipes, but there's a translation guide for the Italian slang Nadia uses on the show, plus other cool features. I like how it's broken up into different categories; each chapter is like its own TV episode. This is a must-have even if you're not a fan of the show.
