Got this software right when it came out and it's everything Consumer Reports said it was. My PC is running like new... in fact better than new. Norton was slowing the thing down terribly. It also found a slew of viruses that Norton did not find. The other features like the gaming mode and file vault make this software a bargain. Definitely worth the #1 ranking!

Do NOT purchase this product. It has been a total nightmare. Read all of the one star reviews....they are all true. I have had nothing but problems since installing this on my brand new computer, and there is absolutely no support from Bitdefender. I have sent them at least 6 to 10 e-mails, and their solution is to send me the same answer every time instructing me to create "sysdump" files, whatever that is, with cryptic instructions that only a computer programmer could understand. The system would not perform updates and I kept getting messages that there were "critical issues" which required fixing, but when I would click the "fix" button it would do nothing. Finally, they told me to download Bitdefender 2010 to correct the issues. I did....big mistake....it created more problems. Now my computer will not stay in sleep mode and the system says that the "automatic update" is disabled and needs to be enabled. I went to settings and "enabled" the automatic update and applied it, but it didn't work....it remained disabled and I have a continuous message that there are two critical issues that require fixing, but the system will not fix them. Not only have I wasted my money on this product, I've wasted hours and hours trying to get the problems corrected with no help from Bitdefender. They finally provided me with a telephone number in the U.S., which was a long distance call, and a recording said that "due to the high volume of calls there will be a wait"......so I guess I'm not the only one having problems with this. I bought this product because it seemed to be the highest rated of all the security systems I reviewed, including in Consumer Reports....someone must be getting a payoff. Anyway, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT!

I had used Bitdefender Antivirus 2008 and 2009, and despite some unsolved problems, they were never serious. So when it came time to renew, I thought I should upgrade to the more powerful Bitdefender Internet Security 2010 (IS2010). It was a big mistake!!!
After installing IS2010 on my Windows Vista notebook: 1. the parental control software (ComputerTime) would not work properly, even though this software served me wonderfully for over 4 years 2. my wife and daughters had difficulties logging into their Windows account - their screen will remain blank and nothing can be done unless the machine is rebooted, and I have to let them use my account 3. the IS2010 services would keep dying unexpectedly and I would have to reboot my machine. This happened daily and for today alone, it happened 3 times in 2 hours! Of course, you may be wondering if all these problems were really due to IS2010. I wondered, too, and between contacting Bitdefender Support 3 times and awaiting their response, I experimented with re-installing IS2010, ComputerTime, etc. The problems remained until I totally uninstalled IS2010. Then all my problems went away and the whole family was happy again. As for Bitdefender Support, they never responded to me at all even after a week. Of course, I'm mad. My computer is totally defenceless. I'm now demanding a refund but I seriously doubt they would respond. I don't know how some software reviews could rate Bitdefender so highly. Maybe they are bought or impartial. So save yourself the grief - AVOID THIS PRODUCT AND THIS COMPANY. They are flawed.
