Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Years ago, Bitdefender was a good product, a very streamlined product that utilized a small amount of your system resources. Now it's just a memory hogging piece of bloatware. As some others have stated, several files need to be downloaded during installation, with little indication of its progress in terms of completion. If you need assistance, you can forget about tech support. If you call, and are fortunate to speak with someone, they are unable to assist you. If you e-mail, you're lucky if you get a response. Unless you enjoy headaches and a slow computer, this product is best avoided.

We purchased Bitdefender because they promised 24/7 support. Don't believe it. We installed the product on our 3 computers and each had problems. On our VISTA machine, our browser continues to crash, other programs crash as well. On our daughter's computer (which she has at her university), she could not connect to the university wireless network from the point that Bitdefender was installed. Despite having computer literate people to help her, she was not able to get it to work; so she uninstalled the product at which point she could get connected again. She also advised us to get a different program. I have spent hours trying to call the help number. I have NEVER gotten through. Each time I reach a place where I listen to music, have periodic instructions on using the knowledge base and chat services, and then get dropped. Each of these calls lasted between 10 and 40 minutes. I tried both the chat services, which are also not available, and the knowledge base from which I could not get the answers to simple questions. If you are not a computer engineer, DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT. In any case, don't expect support.

I purchased this product after searching the net for antivirus reviews and found that this was a top rated product on one site.
The product loaded properly but does not function to date as I keep getting a rejection message when the program looks to its own web site. Tech Support took four days to return my e-mail response and everything that I was instructed to do by Tech Support failed to work. BUY NORTON or TREND save your headaches.

If you have lots of time on your hands and need a new hobby, this package is for you.
Bitdefender used to be a top line product. Not anymore. After you buy the product, before it installs, there is a 25 mb download of the "latest" version. Then after you install, it needs to download another 15 mb "update". When the install doesn't work, as it didn't THREE times for me on a vanilla Windows XP machine, you have to go through the whole routine again. And again. And again. The biggest problem is that there is no system tray icon to let you know that the program is actually working. I happened to open the program from the desktop icon recently, and discovered that the real time protection had been shut down at some unknown time in the past. With no notice that I was running unprotected. This is simply unacceptable. When I tried to get tech support, their plan was for me to spend an hour or so collecting some huge data files to send to them. As if that would explain the tray icon problem. More wasted time. Then there are the scans. My machine has less than 12 gb total in files, on a 10,000 RPM WD Raptor SATA hard disk. It takes Bitdefender over an hour to scan, and it wants to do this frequently. Slow, slow, slow. I suggest that you do what I'm doing, and try something else.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bitdefender Internet Security 2009 2Yr/3Pc [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
If there was a way to give negative stars, I would. This is by far the worst product to purchase for internet security.
I purchsed bitdefender on 11/24 and on 12/18 had a virus on my pc. I should have known that I was in for trouble when I had issues completing the out of box installation on Vista. Only after and hour of working with a tech was I able to get the product install. The install was much better for my XP workstations. But my experience went from bad to worse. After being infected with a virus on one of my XP machines 24 hours later I still do not have resolution. My first attempt to reach a Technical support rep was good. WE talked for 2 hours and then was cut off. THings rapidly decilened from there. 6+ attempts to reach support failed via the phone. I was on hold for almost an hour then I would be abrutly disconnected. THe live chat support was no help either. They were not able to provide statues on my ticket nor were they able to provide a solution to remove the virus from my workstation. This is the worse customer and technical support I have ever received. And it is apparent that the product is buggy and does not live up to the day to day needs of its users.

Terrible customer support for this product,
This review is from: Bitdefender Internet Security 2009 2Yr/3Pc [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
I purchased BitDefender's "Internet Security 2009" for my wife recently. And we got a couple of questions about this product. We sent e-mail to their technical support. They said they cannot support us since we have not registered. She had registered. Then we called their technical support. After having us kept waiting for long time, they disconnected the line withtout any notice. And they did it twice. We sent e-mail to their customer support again. So far no response. What kind of customer support is this?

After researching and reading good things about it I decided I would try BitDefender Internet Security for my brand new laptops. As soon as I installed it, both of the computers started crashing with the blue screen. This all stopped as soon as I removed it.

TERRIBLE PRODUCT!! Installed Bitdefender 2009 for an XP and a Vista machine and BOTH computers had problems. This was very frustrating and not made easier while troubleshooting/contacting customer support. Because there is virtually NO customer support. Tried calling with no luck and finally ended the call after the listening to some soft jazz music for 7 mins, and then subsequent ringing for another 10 minutes. They advertise a "live chat session" which is no more than an option to email. Don't hold your breath while waiting for a response, either. Had several problems on the XP machine with a Service Host process that, upon removing Bitdefender, realized was directly tied to the software. I could go on forever.......RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

More bugs than a junkyard dog,

This review is from: Bitdefender Internet Security 2009 2Yr/3Pc [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
BitDefender seemed to work at first, but odd quirks started showing up soon - settings mysteriously resetting themselves; "issues" needing to be fixed, but complete lack of response from the software when the "Fix it" button is clicked; complete failure of firewall setting; repeated reinstallation attempts resulting in even more faults; online chat support results in representatives saying "we will email you the solution" and never following up; repeated phone calls to the toll support number resulting in 20-minute waits on hold followed by a hang-up - no one ever actually answers. Following instructions to install supposed patches to fix problems on BitDefender website results in even more problems, and no fix for the original problems. This product is absolutely horrible, and there is absolutely no technical support. AVOID THIS LIKE THE PLAGUE!

BitDefender is the absolutely WORST software with the WORST customer service I've ever encountered. Period!!! There is NO way to reach the phone service (and I have an account). They say you have 30 days, but then say that credit card orders can only be refunded the same day. Do NOT buy this product unless you want nothing but problems!!!!
