3.0 out of 5 stars Action packed & fast paced
I am a huge L. A. Banks fan, and was thrilled to pick up the Crimson Moon series. Book 2, Bite the Bullet, picks up immediately where Book 1 left off (so if you haven't read Bad Blood in a while, it may take a bit of patience to ease into BtB). 5.0 out of 5 stars I Want Some More!, October 30, 2008
This review is from: Bite the Bullet (Crimson Moon, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
In Bite the Bullet by L.A. Banks, government solider, Sasha Trudeau is back and the action is not far behind! Soldier by day, wolf by night...not necessarily, Sasha Trudeau is straight solider through and through, first and foremost, only considering her wolf as an afterthought. But of course, the wolf inside of her is quite strong and will not go unnoticed or ignored for long. The moon sings a seductive song her wolf finds simply irresistible. On top of having a slight conflict between the two beings within her, Sasha and her crew have to fight against rogue wolves and a poisonous toxin that is spreading rapidly throughout the rogue wolves blood.

Add to that one Max Hunter, Sasha's "intended" mate, Hunter, is considered a loose cannon by his tribe because of a mishap, a very big mishap that occurred at birth. When things go awry, Hunter again has to face the demons of his past. During such a time of peril, Sasha needs Hunter but because of the mishap, he may be a danger to Sasha, her crew, his tribe and other innocent beings. And so begins the race against time for Sasha Trudeau and her crew to isolate and contain while protecting the innocent.

Bite the Bullet is book two in the Crimson Moon Novels by L.A. Banks. This book has an explosive mixture of action, passion, and politics. The words action and passion go together nicely, but insert politics and that creates a brand new dynamic, one Banks wove into the series quite cleverly. With her use of wolves, werewolves, vampires and mythical creatures including the fae, dragons, unicorns and a host of other beings, politics takes on a shape that will definitely have readers nodding in agreement to parallels that are clearly visible to real world happenings.

Readers who read book one, Bad Blood, will enjoy the growth of main character, Sasha Trudeau. She is increasingly becoming aware of her attraction for Max Hunter and learning to embrace her inner wolf. I highly recommend Bite the Bullet by L.A. Banks which will I predict will make many lists as being the "must read" book of the year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bite the Bullet, November 4, 2008

This review is from: Bite the Bullet (Crimson Moon, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sasha Trudeau's life will never be as she knew it before finding out that she has Shadow wolf DNA in her genes...
Demon-infected werewolf blood is still being sold on the black market. A double cross between species is in the offing. Brother will turn against brother as the infection spreads. Sasha must find the strength to mercifully eliminate the very real threat of her demon infected mate to her life as well as deduce who is selling the infected blood on the black market, and use her skills as a diplomat to defuse the threat of an all-out war between Shadow wolves and werewolves.
As if these factors aren't enough, Sasha must also deal with the fact that her own body betrays her. When she goes into heat, will she stay true to her demon-infected mate, or give in to the temptation that Shogun represents?

5.0 out of 5 stars Banks Does it Again!, October 28, 2008
This review is from: Bite the Bullet (Crimson Moon, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Having been introduced to the Vampire Huntress books and fallen in love with them, I couldn't wait to get my hands on a new series by the same author. It had to be good, didn't it? I wasn't disappointed by the first one and this one just moved the whole story up a notch or maybe two. Once again, Sasha is in the midst of a operation to save wolfkind and herself, at least that's how I'm reading the basic scenario. Two strong male characters just add to the mix of human/werewolf/infected werewolf - what a combination! I know that I had started to read five minutes after I received my copy and didn't put it down till I finished. Lunch was very late that day,LOL and I didn't even apologise.

I am a huge L. A. Banks fan, and was thrilled to pick up the Crimson Moon series. Book 2, Bite the Bullet, picks up immediately where Book 1 left off (so if you haven't read Bad Blood in a while, it may take a bit of patience to ease into BtB). Banks' writing is lush, and her character development/interaction is complex. Her action scenes move in bright flashes to reflect the intense nature of the battles. Her world building in this book show fantastic potential--I eagerly await the 3rd book.

Although the nature of the story (the battle between the noble Shadow wolves and demonic Weres) encourages heavy action scenes, I often found myself having to re-read pages to follow what exactly happened, who was involved, the result of the battle, where they were going after, etc. This writing style makes for very vivid fights, but could use a bit more clarity. I have a similar complaint for the change in perspective; Banks switches between Sasha and Hunter to her team in New Orleans with only a line break to signal the shift (rather than asterisks or other embellishment). I found myself continually thinking that this series is made for television.

I love the L.A. Banks Vampire Huntress novels, so I was kind of afraid to try something new by her, but I'm not regretting it anymore! This book was fantastic! I've already read the second book as well as ordered the third. I think this is a must read for all paranormal readers out there!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sasha is back and better than ever!, November 10, 2008
This review is from: Bite the Bullet (Crimson Moon, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sasha Trudeau, Special Ops and genetically created Shadow Wolf, is back and better than ever. Torn between duty, protecting her "pack", and coming to terms with an organization that betrayed her, Sasha must solve the mystery of who has stolen a contagion that could annihilate the Wolf species. And all of this is further complicated by Sasha's resistance to be labeled a "mate", her need to remain independent and standby a lover who appears to be unable to control his wolf, all while trying to fight her attraction to rival clan alpha Shogun.

"Bite the Bullet", the second in the Crimson Moon series was a ride on the L.A. Banks' express. There were highs, lows, fights and chase scenes, romance and intrigue and everything that her fans have grown to love and expect. I can't wait until "Undead on Arrival" drops next year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the first, October 27, 2008
By
This review is from: Bite the Bullet (Crimson Moon, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
The characters in this installment weren't nearly as hard to keep track of as they were in the first book. Again, Banks has created a world that interweaves "common" mythology with her own take, which is often a blend of the various versions applicable to a creature.

The resolution of Hunter's mixing is something I look forward to - even a tad more than Sasha's eventual acceptance of her bond to him. Though I wouldn't mind seeing Shogun get a story or two of his own.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Diamond in the Rough!, February 2, 2009
This review is from: Bite the Bullet (Crimson Moon, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was spectacular! Sasha Trudeau is back and on top of her game. The book picks up a month after the first book Bad Blood. Sasha is begrudgingly experiencing her first heat and there is a lot of sexual tension between her and Hunter. Unfortunately, Hunter's tainted DNA is becoming more active and several times his wolf has become more demon than wolf. Tension is mounting between the werewolves, shadow-wolves, infected werewolves and infected shadow-wolves. Many of the "wolves" are being kidnapped or involuntarily infected and some are even crossing in and out of the demon realm. Sasha and Hunter must find out who is supplying the black market with the stolen vials of the demon infected blood and time is not on their side. In order for the "wolf" species to survive without becoming the hunted by other paranormal communities, these two enemies will have to figure out a way to unite and stop the demon infected, before they claim more innocents. I loved this story. I can honestly say I didn't want the book to end. It had a perfect mix of sex, action and loads of mythical creatures. I looked forward to Undead on Arrival due out 3/31/09.

I also recommend:
Iron Kissed (Mercy Thompson, Book 3)
Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, Book 2)
Pure Blood (Nocturne City, Book 2)
Blood Engines (Marla Mason, Book 1)
The Good, The Bad, And The Undead
