Book Description

London's Lord Vampire Has Problems

Dr. John Polidori's tale "The Vampyre" burst upon the Regency scene along with Mary Shelley's Frankenstein after that notorious weekend spent writing ghost stories with Lord Byron.

A vampire craze broke out instantly in the haut ton.

Now Ian Ashton, the Lord Vampire of London, has to attend tedious balls, linger in front of mirrors, and eat lots of garlic in an attempt to quell the gossip.

If that weren't annoying enough, his neighbor, Angelica Winthrop, has literary aspirations of her own and is sneaking into his house at night just to see what she can find.

Hungry, tired, and fed up, Ian is in no mood to humor his beautiful intruder...

5.0 out of 5 stars Historical, with VAMPIRES! April 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This was a lot of fun. A historical with vampires!

Angelica wants to write gothic novels. She doesn't want to get married because she is sure that her husband, no matter who he is, wouldn't allow her to continue writing. She decides that being ruined would fix that. No one would want her and she can do as she wishes.

Ian Ashton, the Duke of Burnrath AND the Lord Vampire of London, has been around for centuries. He hangs out in London for several years, then pretends to go abroad to find a wife. He then returns to London decades later posing as his own son or grandson. He is incredibly annoyed when a poem, THE VAMPYRE, wreaks havoc with his life. The ton jumps on the vampire bandwagon and start to wonder why he is never seen in daylight.

When Angelica finds herself in a situation where she could be ruined, she is pleased. But then Ian comes to her "rescue" and saves her reputation by proposing, publicly. Ah, then the sparks fly! He figures that she'll help him to be seen as normal and her reputation will be saved.

There are many misunderstandings, and I could have done without a couple of them. But I did enjoy their interactions and their wedding night? Yeah...wowza...worth overlooking those couple of plot devices to read their first time.

I will definitely be watching for more from this author.

Thank you, NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca, for giving me the opportunity to read BITE ME, YOUR GRACE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great new series! Keep an eye on Brooklyn Ann! April 2, 2013
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I liked the scenario of this story today; it's difficult nowadays to find a story about vampire that stand out or are revamped. I don't think it was the author's purpose. I think the author, Brooklyn Ann, made a good research to bring out her book of the lot with the characteristics of the real historical characters. This story is still in the ''cheesy'' category where the vampire is seen as a monster by society. He falls in love with the beautiful maiden, and of course, the innocent and naive Angelica falls for Ian Ashton, Duke of Burnrath, who is also the Lord Vampire of London.

The plot is typical, but again this kind of reading calms me and sometimes, even often, I like to read stories not too complicated, romantic with a predictable end. The pace was well defined with a few jolts to keep the reader hooked.

Angelica is not the childish kind, but sometime she took funny decision, which brought a lot to the story, but at the same time was a bit unrealistic. However, it never bothered me.

It is always nice to read about a character, Angelica Winthrop, who's also a writer. I like to see how the author perceives a character that practices the same art. Angelica has been struggling with her writing and publication, I wonder how this could be a projection of how Brooklyn Ann must have felt at some point of her life. Or maybe not at all!

Ian is grim and fierce. He doesn't let his true nature except at rare opportunity, which are kind of frightening for human around and we can get the picture of the ''monster'' that everyone is talking about: feeds on blood, powerful and can kill. His character was interesting and I liked his relationship with Angelica.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars - "Bite Me, Your Grace" by Brooklyn Ann April 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The first thing that drew me to this book was the beautiful cover and then the synopsis of the book saying it was a historical and paranormal romance mix. Two genres I adore written together...I definitely had to read this book.

Unfortunately, the book tended to be a little dry and confusing at first and then it would get interesting...and then again dry. Although, I did adore the characters, I just was not really interested on some parts of the storyline because it just got confusing a little bit.

I loved Angelica in the story because she was one strong-willed, determined character who wanted nothing to do with marriage and wanted to pursue her writing career. Until, she meets her match, and he happens to be a vampire. She's not scared of him of course, she's more intrigued and wanting to know more about him and his kind.

I also loved Ian, the Duke of Burnath, at times...other times he tended to be a jerk. He was not really intrigued with Angelica at first, until he finally got to talk with her and find out how she really is. There were times in the story where I wanted to hit him on the top of his head for the way he treated Angelica.

There were so many storylines going that what was making the book confusing. You had Angelica and Ian...then you had the Vampire Hunter, plus the writer, John and another vampire who loved him, Rosetta. The most confusing part was when Ian was trying to track down John, but then he gave up after awhile...but Rosetta and John thought he had not and in came controversy.

Do not get me wrong, I liked "Bite Me Your Grace", I just did not love it.

Angelica Winthrop aspired to be a writer like Mary Shelley of Frankenstein fame and had always been mesmerized by Burnrath House, an Elizabethan mansion owned by Ian, the Duke of Burnrath. Angelica despised the way women were marketed and married off within the ton.

Ian, the Duke of Burnrath, was widely suspected to be the vampire featured in Doctor Polidori's tale, The Vampyre, and had been fighting the rumors by attending balls, standing in front of mirrors and eating lots of garlic. Now... he wakes up to find an intruder in his home. He's hungry... and bites ...

I couldn't sleep last night until I finished this book. LOL! I loved the way Brooklyn Ann meshed vampire lore into a Regency romance. The characters are well developed and the story kept me enthralled thru-out. Loved it!!!!!!
