Bite Me If You Can,
This review is from: Bite Me If You Can (Argeneau Vampires, Book 6) (Mass Market Paperback)
Walking home from work in the wee hours of the morning, Leigh is attacked and kidnapped by a rogue vampire. Luckily, hunters targeting the rogue arrive to free Leigh but not before the rogue turns her into a vampire.
Going through the turn isn't easy and someone needs to care for Leigh during this painful time. Lucian Argeneau doesn't exactly want the job but fate seems have other ideas. A hunter that's been around for over two thousand years, Lucian has found little to excite him. Until Leigh. Now Lucian is eating food, drinking coffee and dreaming about sex with Leigh. Unfortunately the rogue that attacked Leigh is still at large and coming for her! This is my first experience with the Argeneau family. I am now tracking down the other five books in this series. I gobbled up Bite Me If You Can in one afternoon and immediately began my quest for more of Lynsay Sand's writing. Let me tell you why I am now an official Lynsay Sands fan, Bite Me If You Can is full of hot and steamy romance peppered with enough humor to make me laugh out loud. I loved every morsel! My only excuse for missing this series until now is my prejudice against cartoon covers and some of the Argeneau books have cartoon covers. Shame on me! And if you've missed this yummy paranormal romance series for the same reason, shame on you too! Lecture me about judging a book by it's cover later, for now, get your own copy of Bite Me If You Can. You'll gobble it up too! Annmarie Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

For those of you who have read other books in the Argeneau family series you'll love this one! After several millenia of grieving for his lost wife and daughters the aloof boogie man of the immortal world is about to find a new love. He's still arrogant but the sudden emotion has turned him just a hair bumbly. You see, Lucian hasn't kissed a woman since the Romans left Britain(that's nearly 1700 years!). He hasn't tried to make someone like him in far longer than that. He's a little out of his element (see hostile threats and terminating people) and those pesky neices and nephews whom he's tormented are loving it.
For those of you who are interested in this book but have not read anything else in the rest of the series, I suggest you go pick up atleast one other of these stories first. Not only will you be a little lost if you don't but these have been fantastic books you won't want to miss. Etainne & Lillianna's stories are where Lucian has popped in previousely. Plot wise: Leigh's walking home one night minding her own business when bam, a slightly out of it employee who disapeered a few days ago has his new freind bite her of all things. They turn her, kidnapp her, and she's just escaping when this gorgeous blonde man and and his freinds burst in. That's all Leigh remembers. But when she comes to, she finds she's not in Kansas anymore! Instead she's in a swanky Toronto home being cared for by the same said blonde man, Lucian Argeneau, and being informed that she's been turned into the equivalant of a vampire. And her new tutor in all things vamp is the sulky but sexy 3,500 year old Atlantean who rescued her. It may be a little much for a girl to handle. Other very good books in this series, in order: A Quick Bite- Lissianna & Greg Love Bites - Eteinne & Rachel Single White Vampire - Lucerne & Kate Tall, Dark & Hungry- Bastien & Terri A Bite to Remember- Vincent & Jackie

brilliance in comedy and romance!,
This review is from: Bite Me If You Can (Argeneau Vampires, Book 6) (Mass Market Paperback)
I think this is my favourite Argeneau since Single White Vampire. I read this some time back, and I thought it really was one of Lynsay Sand's strongest efforts to date.
Leigh Gerard is going home from work late one night, when she is approached by a co-worker Danny. He is acting rather weird, but before she can decide to get far away, she ends up at a house with a rogue Vampire named Morgan. Morgan has started the process to turn Leigh. He has been turning people left and right to create his own vampire clan. Only the enforcer of the Argeneaus, Lucian, is on Morgan's trail and determined to put a stop to his nonsense. He comes in with his crew to wipe out the vampire nest, but discovers Leigh is not really a vampire...quiet yet. Instead of destroying her with the others, he takes her home and protects her. Neither Leigh nor Lucian (even more grumpy than Lucern is!!) are happy with the romance, especially since Leigh is learning she is a vampire in the makings, too. A little darker than most of Lynsay's books, but I like that she steps outside of the box and delivers a book that is special unto itself. It's charming, witty, and an utter delight. Many series start to lag after the first three, then you see the writer struggling to keep making the series fresh. It's not an easy chore, because you have to remember that a reader new to the series will need explanations, while those already hooked don't want to hear a lot of repetition. It's walking a tight rope between the two that can kill a series. Sands proves she is a master and does each one in STYLE that promises to keep this series going and going....sure makes me happy!

Leigh Gerard had never believed in vampires until the night rogue vampire, Morgan, and her friend and newly turned vampire, Donny, abducted her. Morgan starts the process of turning Leigh when immortal vampire Lucian Argeneau intervenes. Now, Leigh finds herself adjusting to the world of the immortals with the grumpy Lucian while Morgan is hot on their trail. And what's this whole bit about Lucian being her life mate, anyway?
Lynsay Sands has a definite gift at incorporating humor into her stories, regardless of the genre. BITE ME IF YOU CAN is no exception, as the witty repartee between Lucian and Leigh is simply hysterical. Lucian presents as a very reserved character and it is extraordinarily funny to see the unpretentious Leigh ruffle his feathers. Lucian is used to having a solution for everything (one that usually involves having others handle the sensitive details with people) and Leigh leaves him positively mystified. The antics of the dog, Julius, only add to the laugh out loud moments offered in BITE ME IF YOU CAN. BITE ME IF YOU CAN is a delightfully charming story that is sure to produce a chuckle out of even a grump such as Lucian! Lynsay Sands showcases her phenomenal grasp of the human psyche with this one, as even Lucian demonstrates a bit of insecurity when he recognizes his feelings for Leigh. BITE ME IF YOU CAN is highly recommended, particularly for the kind of day when you just need a good laugh to perk you up. Thank you, once again, Ms. Sands, for such an incredible tale! I have read every single one of Lynsay's vamp series and I personally think Bite Me If You Can is the best one to date. The book arrived last Thursday and I read it in 3 hours. It was so good and funny. I was cracking up. Seeing Lucien so out of control was dynamite. Lynsay Sands has outdone herself with this awesome book!

I seriously couldn't buy this authors books because of the corny covers. Lets face it, I want to be taken seriously by randomly anonymous cashiers for the 15 seconds I don't make eye contact and give undo focus on the ATM card reader. Thank GOD! for the self check out stations at Wal-mart.
ANYWHO...I love this book, I couldn't stand to be interrupted. I hate the take on vampire lore but who cares...it was funny, smart, the herione wasn't too stupid to live and the hero had to work for her. It had just the right amount of sensuality and a great writing style that made me want to snatch up everything she has ever written. I LOVED IT!!! Take that Christine Feehan! Why not 5 stars??? Well guys are not brunettes nor are they brunet (a spelling error). Also it wasn't "men's knees" that the heroine needed to learn about but "men's needs". Also "accept" and "except" not interchangeable. AND IV's are not made of metal, and have you ever tried to break off a needle, nothing but two pliers and a lot of back and forth bending will do it. These are just the mistakes that come to mind and I am sure there were others. She needed one more proofread before shipping the product to us. Not to say that other books by many other authors didn't the same problems (including this review) but these were just glaringly obvious.

Even though I had read some reviews regarding this book which were not very favorable, I bought the book anyway for the mere reason I had read Sand's "Renegade Hunter" and "Single White Vampire" both of which I liked. I was very disappointed in Bite Me if You Can. There was no romance whatsoever. Each page I turned, I was hoping for a tease....but it did not come.....still page turning until 3/4 of the book had been read and nothing! Like most books, the author teases us with sexual desire. This book did not even do that! There was no teasing, no love, no romance, and.....no sexual desires like other books written by Cole, Lara Adrian, Gena Showalter. It was a complete waste of money and reading time. Next time I will pay more attention to what others write.

VAMPIRE BE MINE!!!!,
By
This review is from: Bite Me If You Can (Argeneau Vampires, Book 6) (Mass Market Paperback)
The 6th book on the Argeneau family saga is about the most cantankerous, grumpy and oldest members of the family - Julian Argeneau. He has lived centuries, well 3500 years to be precise - and is one of the original survivors of Atlantis before it fell. He lost his wife then and children and has lived alone - his only purpose in existence is protecting the Argeneau clan and ensuring their safety.
His latest mission revolves around eradicating "rogue" immortals (vampires) that have turned against the human race. That leaves Lucian with a rep of an unfeeling and rude SOB. After being having lived so long - he has seen everything, been though everything and experienced everything. He hasn't gotten lucky in almost 1800 years! And he is not about to - that would only distract him from his goal - terminate rogue vamps and being vigilante for his family! Leigh Gerard is walking home from her restaurant late in the evening, when she is approached by a fellow co-worker Donald (Donny). He lures her into the clutches of a vicious rogue vampire - Morgan, who has been turning mortals to start his own sect of followers. Morgan bites Leigh, gives her his blood and takes her to his lair until she has turned. Lucian and two of his men have scoped and staked out Morgan's nest. As they rush in to "clean out the nest", they kill most of the vampires in residence and burn the house, rescuing Leigh in the process. Unfortunately, Morgan and Donny have managed to slip away. When Leigh is literally "dumped" on Lucien's lap - he has no choice but to take her his sister-in-laws house to Toronto and in turn dump her with Marguerite. Only one problem, Marguerite is on her way to Europe and can't stay to care for a "baby-vamp" while she is turning. Lucian has guarded his rep throughout the centuries. He is known as the most ancient, ruthless and kick butt immortal in the Argeneau clan and he is not going to let his rep slip by caring for a baby vamp!!! Stuck with Leigh through her turning - he remains in Marguerite's house. After a few hilarious incidents where he is forced to do "menial" labor, he realizes that he can't read Leigh's thoughts and it is an indication that she is his life mate. After being alone for so many centuries - it is at first hard to believe that she has come along. After Leigh realizes "she's not in Kansas anymore", she finally accepts that she has been turned into an immortal. She is constantly badgering Lucian with questions about their race - which of coursed annoys him to no end. Leigh is delightful - with a great heart and wonderful sense of humor, she slowly begins to thaw and chip away at Lucian's frozen and insensitive heart and breaks through his defenses - in the most endearing way! Oh, did I mention that she can kick butt just like Lucian - after an abusive husband there's no way in hell she is going to be dominated and mistreated by anyone - EVER! In the style of Sands previous novels - the content is beautifully developed and you'll find yourself swallowing this book at an expediential rate!! Complete with witty humor, sexy scenes, fantastic plot, great characters and sub-characters and a great family besides - this one is not to be missed! Julian - you can bite my neck any time!!! I have to agree with a previous reviewer - the reason I had not picked up this series was due to the corny book titles with the silly cartoon-ish images on the covers. I sheepishly agree that I have "done missed out" on a great series which now I have to feverishly catch up on and am now reading out of sequence! HEY - don't judge a book by its cover - for sure! Since I made the mistake of not reading these in order here is the way you might want to engage them: 1. A Quick Bite- Lissianna & Greg 2. Love Bites - Eteinne & Rachel 3. Single White Vampire - Lucerne & Kate 4. Tall, Dark & Hungry- Bastien & Terri 5. A Bite to Remember- Vincent & Jackie 6. Bite me if you Can - Lucien & Leigh 7. The Accidental Vampire - Victor & Elvi 8. Vampires are Forever - Thomas & Inez 9. Vampire Interrupted - Marguerite & Julius

I picked up this book because it was the next in the series. I loved the other books, the characters were funny, had the 3 dimensional feel you love to get with books. Boy was this book a let down big time. Lucian was so uncaring, so 2 dimensional, I found myself falling asleep at times. And poor Leigh had to be shackled with him. And this is suppose to be a romance book. Ok where's the romance? You don't get to the romantic parts until almost page 292. The book was very plodding, boring and yet it felt like the author slapped this book together at the last minute and called it good. I call it bad. Hopefully the next book will be better, perhaps with Thomas as the main character. Now that would make for one yummy book. I do give credit where credit is due and say Lynsay Sands is a good author and I won't let one sour apple wreck my enjoyment of the rest of her series.

This review is from: Bite Me If You Can (The Argeneau Family) (Kindle Edition)
Since I started reading this series this is by far my favorite.
Since book 1 I had hoped there would be a book for Lucian. My gosh truly the perfect match for me Leigh is a strong independent woman that was turned before she even knew what was going on by a rogue vampire. Lucian was sent to terminate the rogue but found Leigh in mid turning trying to escape so he did what any honorable man would do and spared her and took her under his wing... with much protest on his part. But to his surprised he cannot read Leigh so with encouragement from his family he works on winning her over. The only thing I did not like was all the butting in from Lucian family But it was nice to bring back some old charaters. |
