4.0 out of 5 stars feel good family drama, June 28, 2007
By
This review is from: Bitsy's Bait & BBQ (Paperback)
Bitsy's Bait and Barbecue by Pamela Morsi was a charming novel set in the Ozarks of Missouri. Katy Dodson uses the divorce settlement she receives from her wealthy ex-husband to buy a B&B on eBay, thinking that the rural atmosphere and small town will be a wholesome place to raise her little son. Her sister Emma comes along to get Katy and little Josh settled in. The sisters are shocked when they learn that, in this case, B&B stands for Bait & BBQ rather than Bed & Breakfast - and that business, bought sight unseen, is a run down hole. Katy decides to make a go of it, and an interesting summer with all sorts of additional surprises awaits the sisters.

This was a very pleasant book about a family (and community) working out problems, growing up, and coming together.

5.0 out of 5 stars bitsy's bait & bbq, July 1, 2007

This review is from: Bitsy's Bait & BBQ (Paperback)
I am a huge fan of Pamela Morsi, I have read all of her books, some of them many times over. THIS IS HER BEST BOOK. Wonderful story line, a place you want to visit, a heroine with a heart and backbone, great supporting cast and an antagonist you love to hate. A sequel is a must (she has done this before). Thank you Pam for a book that is a keeper. Also, Bitsy is very quotable, as my family both fishes and cooks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great read from Pamela Morsi!, May 11, 2007
This review is from: Bitsy's Bait & BBQ (Paperback)
Pamela Morsi is my favorite author for romance, and this novel was no disappointment. The characters are colorful, flawed, lovable and very human, all range of ages, and all walks of life. The story has character, plot, humor, and sensitivity. Exquisitely sweet. Gives you that good feeling and leaves you with things to think about.

4.0 out of 5 stars fun contemporary tale, February 10, 2007
This review is from: Bitsy's Bait & BBQ (Paperback)
Collins doubts her ancient car will make it, but she, her sister Katy Dodson, and her six years old nephew Josh are heading to Bitsy's B&B in the Ozark Mountains because her enthusiastic dingbat sibling bought the "combined business" using her divorce settlement money over the Internet. When they arrive at Warbler Lake, Missouri, they learn that B&B does not mean bed and breakfast, but stands for bait and barbeque. Even worse the place is a dump near nowhere and all their money is sinking into worms and breakfast.

Though she loves Katy and adores Josh, Emma looks forward to returning to her life as she dreams of returning to college, but will help her blood relatives settle into their new lives. She plans to stay for now helping Katy make a success of the business and a home for Josh. When Katy's ex-husband hedonistic Sean arrives demanding custody of their offspring, Emma knows she has her sister's back even if college never comes

This is a fun contemporary tale starring two sisters, a nephew, a former spouse with a secret agenda, a town of eccentrics, and a variety of nightcrawlers (worms that is). The amusing story line grips the audience better than a hook grips fish due to the sundry cast who make for a fine read as everyone delightfully contrasts with the serious minded Emma. Pamela Morsi provides a wonderful gateway to the Ozarks.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Breath of Fresh Air, October 2, 2007

This review is from: Bitsy's Bait & BBQ (Paperback)
Bitsy's Bait and BBQ is a little snapshot of life in the Missouri Ozarks. The characters are endearing and it is a delightful tale of small community life. It is a charming story of Katy and Emma who think they are buying a Bed and Breakfast and instead wind up with a Bait and BBQ. While Katy and Emma adapt to country life and try to master the BBQ pit, Katy's ex-husband Sean and his domineering mother Gwen arrive to try to gather evidence in order to change the custody arrangements for Josh, Katy's son. The small community rallies around Katy and the story comes to a great ending. My only complaint is that I want to know the rest of the story. Several budding romances were just beginning to blossom at the end of the book and I want to know what happens next.

This author always gives the reader more than her money's worth, and this new book is no exception. I love Bitsy and the "bed and breakfast" (haha). No joke, this book is GREAT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bitsy's Bait & BBQ, August 20, 2009
This review is from: Bitsy's Bait & BBQ (Paperback)
This book was in great condition and arrived quickly.Having already read Last Dance at Jitterbug Lounge, I was curious if this book would be as good. It was. Pamela Morsi writes heart warming stories of everyday people and problems. It's as if you know these people. The stories remain with you long after you're done reading them. Hurray for Pamela Morsi!

I have read this author before so was prepared to enjoy this book. I wasn't disappointed at all. If you enjoy reading "slice of life" stories this is for you. I am waiting on her next book!

This is one of my favorites from Pamela Morsi. She has a way of making you feel like you really know the characters. Great vacation read when in the Ozarks.
