Entrepreneur Jason O'Neill is a regular teenager who saw an opportunity at the age of nine to make some money. He took action and Pencil Bugs were quickly born. Little did he know that the simple idea he created for a craft fair would become a successful business earning him awards and national media acclaim. Jason was the youngest at age eleven to receive the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and was named to a Forbes Top 10 List of Role Models 18 and Under at age twelve. Jason speaks at schools (elementary through college), businesses, libraries, organizations, and conferences encouraging and inspiring people of all ages to try their ideas and give back to their communities. He donates a portion of his proceeds to help other kids and one day hopes to become a worldwide philanthropist. Jason lives with his parents and dog, Rusty, in southern California. He enjoys family traveling, golfing with his dad, swimming, playing with his friends, and of course, playing video games. In addition to continuing to expand his Pencil Bugs business and publish his children's books featuring the Pencil Bugs characters, Jason has aspirations to be a video game designer. At age nine, Jason O'Neill came up with a simple product idea and before he knew it, he became a young entrepreneur with a successful business called Pencil Bugs.
Jason has been featured on local and national TV including ABC News Nightline, NBC's 1 vs 100, PBS BizKid$ and in such publications as Forbes, Scholastic magazine, Inventors Digest, Intuit, Southwest Airlines "Spirit" Magazine as well as many local newspapers, magazines, and radio shows.

Being an inspiration and a role model for people of all ages is a huge responsibility but one that Jason enjoys. With his first book, "Bitten by the Business Bug: Common Sense Tips for Business and Life from a Teen Entrepreneur," he hopes to inspire more people to try their ideas because as he often says, "You can't get anywhere by sitting on your ideas."

"I raised three children of my own, have three step children, and helped raised two grandchildren. I know what young teens act and think like, and Jason O'Neill stands out as a unique teenager with an incredible head on his shoulders. His book Bitten by the Business Bug: Common Sense Tips for Business and Life from a Teen Entrepreneur is busting at the seams with golden-rule business and life strategies, all wrapped up with a final chapter that lays out 45 solid rules for life... any life. My favorite tip on page 31 offers the idea that it matters less how much money you make and instead, pay attention to what you're doing with it. Jason suggests that we should all find a small way to give to others, whether with money, resources, or just our time. All teens seem to live to hang out with friends or play video games. But when parents play a role in creating balance in a teen's daily life (as Jason's parents seem to have done) you get a kid like Jason O'Neill who is able to discover gifts that will change his life and the lives of others. Keep it up Jason... there are great things down the road for you!"
