Book Description

Love is the last thing on Zoe’s mind. Widowed at only twenty-six, she’s just trying to get through one lonely day at a time as she grieves her late husband, and finds the energy to take care of her infant son.

As Zoe bravely tries to hold herself together, her husband’s cousin and business partner, Adam, offers his support and friendship. Shattered by her loss, Zoe is distant and resentful at first, but Adam gently persists, and Zoe’s reserve soon begins to crumble...

Adam knows that Zoe needs time to heal but finds himself more and more attracted to her. He knows he must not act on these forbidden feelings, but they just won’t go away...

Noelle Adams’s Bittersweet is a poignant, fearless exploration of friendship, loss, new beginnings, and the healing power of love.

Contemporary romance novelist Noelle Adams was born in Savannah, Georgia. At just twelve years of age, she wrote her first romance novel by hand in a spiral-bound notebook—and she hasn’t stopped writing since.

Noelle has a PhD in English literature and enjoys travel, art, and history. Her biggest weaknesses are eating ice cream and spoiling her beloved cocker spaniel, Jane.

She has lived in eight different states and currently resides in Virginia, where she teaches English. When she’s not teaching, she devours any book she can get her hands on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heart-felt and beautifully written May 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What a lovely story! Ms. Adams sure knows how to create wonderful characters that, in a blink of an eye, find a way to our hearts. The story moves just at the right pace to help the two main characters build their romantic relationship. Don't let the idea that Zoe is the widow of Adam's late cousin throw you off the story. The Author weaves such a beautiful romance that such premise only helps enhance the depth of the love felt by the main characters.
The title says it all! Bittersweet yet breath-taking, indeed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Much anticipated book - didn't disappoint May 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story is really good. I wanted to give 4 1/2 stars. The story flows real nice. I particularly enjoyed the subtle humor prevalent throughout the book. There is enough anguish but not overly so. The h and H are shown as decent and affectionate people. Their interaction with Logan is portrayed realistically. Overall, I liked the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nicely written but slow moving May 22, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is one of the few romances I've read that is very real. People crying just because they're sad, and maybe overreacting a little because their emotions are out of wack. The relationships are real and believable. There is nothing grandiose about the book. I liked the characters, I liked the subject, but it was just so slow. And it's nit-picky but i got annoyed that the author wrote the same thing over and over. We get it, he's very verile and masculine. Yes, he likes slightly wrinkled camp shirts or suits. So, overall, just okay. Not a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another homerun! June 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Another great book by Noelle. What i love about her books is that the emotions are real and deep. You feel as if you are part of the story by how it captivates you. One of the things that i love about Noelle's writing is that she doesn't do all the drama and misunderstandings that cause the main characters to part. For example, (spoiler alert) when Adam finds Zoe in the middle of the night crying and wearing her rings while looking at pictures of josh. Of course he thought that she missed him so much and would always love josh, so he automatically decides to pack his stuff and head back to his house. But Zoe figures out what bothers Adam and clear the air so they make up. Noelle does this in a smooth and natural way. Not in a way that makes you think, "this only happens in books and movies". I swear every book of noelle's that i have read, i wished that a movie can be made from it. I felt that i was living the story. No one does emotion like noelle. A must read, definitely!

2.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly Adequate Contemporary Romance. May 30, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
For reasons I won't go into here, I don't read a lot of Contemporary romance novels these days. However, since I have downloaded nearly 500 books to my Kindle for PC-and prior to this hadn't actually READ any of them!-I decided to actually start reading them. The first in my queue in alphabetical order is "Bittersweet" by Noelle Adams.

The Story: In Chapter 1 we meet Zoe-no surname, one of several flaws in the book-and the hero of the book, Adam Peterson. Zoe is an assistant department manager in a department store and Adam is a tech geek who has designed a computer trivia game that later blows up to become a major multimedia success. At the same lunch in the first chapter, Zoe meets Adam's cousin, Josh, whom she later marries.

Fast forward to present day. Josh is dead, and Zoe is the mother of a six-month old son, Logan. Adam starts to help Zoe get her life back together and eventually, she and Adam fall in lust, then in love with each other. Both Zoe and Adam feel guilty at times over having sexual and romantic feelings for each other, but resolve their emotional issues with their love and eventually realize that they are in love with each other and have their happily ever after.

This is not the most wordy review I've done, mainly because there really isn't anything going on in this book that doesn't go on in most traditional contemporary romances. Zoe and Adam eat dinner together, date, go out, take care of Logan, have sex-with and without intercourse-nothing terribly different than other contemporary romances. And, sadly, not very interesting either.

There are multiple issues I had with this book, beyond not knowing Zoe's surname. The book just kind of sits on the surface. Despite Ms.

4.0 out of 5 stars Swoons May 16, 2013

Oh Adam.... I first started this story with some reservations about the subject matter regarding a cousin having a relationship with his dead cousin's wife. But the author did such an outstanding job of weaving a beautiful relationship that you had no choice but to root for the h/h throughout the book. The romance was steamy and realistic, so intimate that you felt as if you were sitting in on the encounters between the two. I just missed the season finale if my favorite show because I couldn't put this story down. Two thumbs up!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars great book July 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
: " This story y Noelle Adams was great and I really enjoyed reading it. It is the story of Zoe who meets Adam and then later meets his cousin Josh. Josh and Zoe fall in love and get married, then years later Josh dies. Zoe tries to pull her life together for her and her son. Adam is a great help and he and Zoe rekindle their friendship. Zoe is not aware that Adam has always loved her. The story follows her struggles and Adams as they try to rebuild a life. Its really a good read(less)"
