Format: Hardcover
Bivalve Seashells of Tropical West America by Coan & Valentich-Scott is an excellent resource for anyone who is interested in learning about and identifying bivalves. The dichotomous key allows amateurs to experts the ability to accurately and quickly identify a specimen to superfamily. The color plates are beautiful and make identification of species clear. The descriptions are well-written, detailed, and current. This two-volume set is portable, easy to use, an effective tool, and a must for identifying bivalves from the Tropical West America. For identifying bivalves from Western North America refer to the prior publication, Bivalve Seashells of Western North America by Coan, Valentich-Scott, & Bernard (Bivalve Seashells of Western North America (Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Monographs)). -Review by Elizabeth Garfinkle
