4.0 out of 5 stars You can't go wrong with the Biz.
Ok ok ok... I've heard it before from many people, including myself. "Rap isn't my kind of music." And while I admit I am not a rabid rap fan, especially of today's breed, I enjoy this album. Biz knew how to rhyme, he knew how to be hillarious, he knew how to be serious, and God knows he knew how to give shout-outs (as he did on every track of this album). Ok, so the...

Biz Markie is without a doubt one of old schools greatest pioneers. I had the oppotunity to see him perform at the Tampa Sun Dome in 1986 and he delivered his Biz Mark antics in hillarious way. I must truly say that he kept his fans in expectation of a diabolical jam of the 80's.

Biz knew how to rhyme, he knew how to be hillarious, he knew how to be serious, and God knows he knew how to give shout-outs (as he did on every track of this album). Ok, so the last part may make him seem a bit pretentious... but do not let that get in the way. This album is great... a good antithesis to today's style of rap. Biz raps about Springtime, body odors, "friends", as well as anti-drugs. No egotistical sexism, no racism, and no excessive, boring curising. Great rhymes. So if you ever get the chance to run across this album, give it a spin... you may find it quite enjoyable.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you like old-school, urban beats, plus Biz, then BUY IT!, July 12, 1999

Biz has continually thrilled fans with his vocal prowess and his newest CD continues this legacy. His distinctive singing style and basic beats are fresh from the street. The song, "Just a friend," was extremely successful and proved that Markie has many more tricks up his sleeves.

I have loved this album since it first came out. I was in 8th grade and had just moved back to Maryland from North-West D.C. Just a friend is a classic, but the best song on the album is: "A Thing Named Kim". The story is just too funny and could possibly happen to anyone.

What can you say about the Biz Markie. He's fat, he's eclectic and his Annonciation is sub par to say the least, but what the Biz lacks in grace he more than makes up for in charisma.

This Elder statesman of the New York Hip-hop scene shows his full lyrical potential on this album. Along with his Cousin who makes up the second half this "dynamic" Duo, Cutmaster cool V, the two of them have managed to produce an album of quality beats, catchy hooks and sometimes hilarious rhymes. Think Tribe Called quest meets Fat Albert and the Gang (which insidently is reffered to on the classic tune Mudfoot).
All in all if you dont like the biz's style you'll be more than amused with his choice of subject matter and delivery. A worth while buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Biz Markie made hip-hop fun and inspiring., January 20, 1999

Biz Markie added to the rap industry a humor that was necessary if it was to succeed. While other rappers got us hype or in the mood to dance, Biz made us just want to laugh and chill. His song "The Vapors" taught me that while other people might think what they will of you, only you can make them change that perception... thus making them catch "The Vapors". I grew up in Brooklyn, on food stamps, and dead broke where nobody gave me a chance of making it. Right now I have a degree in Computer Science and I'm working on my masters. I own my own home and two new cars. Just want to say thank you!
