I was quite disappointed with this rather expensive book. The step by step instructions resemble a lab manual that one encounters in a hands-on course. The problem with this approach is that there is no one to answer questions. The authors of the book assumes the reader has complete knowledge about maps, orchestrations, pipelines, ports, etc. and how they all tie together, and all that is needed is a simple guide to put everything together to solve a problem.
That is where I have issues. If someone is smart enough to learn the BizTalk tools thoroughly, then why wouldn't they be smart enough to use them together to solve a problem? Why would step by step instructions be necessary?
Since I don't know the BizTalk tools well enough, I needed a book that explains what each one does, why it was designed that way and how they all fit together. I wanted simple explanations merging into simple examples which then merges into more complex examples. This book does nothing for providing a basic foundation of understanding the tools. It's a complete waste of money for someone wanting to learn about BizTalk.
