Biography

Born in Iceland in 1965, singer-songwriter, producer and actor Björk has incorporated a full range of music styles and collaborators over her career.

She released her debut album aged 11: the self-titled album, sung in Icelandic, was a mix of cover versions and new songs and hinted at the eclectic career that was to follow.

Editorial Reviews

2004's primal and avant garde Medulla, which reached #14 in Billboard®, is an astonishing set composed almost entirely of vocal samples, with some pieces performed in Icelandic. Features the stand-outs "Triumph Of The Heart," "Desired Constellations," and "Oceania," which Björk wrote for, and performed at, the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. DVD clips include selections mentioned above plus videos for "Who Is It" and "Where Is The Line." Deluxe package features the original CD in remastered stereo on Side 1 and on Side 2, the entire album in Advanced Resolution 5.1 Surround Sound plus bonus videos!

This review is from: Bjork: Medulla (Audio CD)
At the time of typing this, Medulla is about as cheap on dualdisc as it is on regular CD. The surround-sound and bonus features are worth the maybe 2 dollars more you'd spend on this.

As for the music. It's great. Probably the most experimental thing she has done to date and it pays off.

This review is from: Bjork: Medulla (Audio CD)
IF YOU BUY THIS ALBUM, THIS "DUAL DISC" IS DEFINETLY THE ONE TO BUY.

One side is a compact disc, and the other side is a DVD with the music in 5.1.

The sound quality of the CD is excellent. It is one of the best sounding CDs I have heard. The sound quality of the DVD is amazing and the 5.1 system is used to its fullest. It is the best 5.1 mix I have heard.

Unfortunately, the music is a bunch of crap. Think Yoko Ono gone Icelandic. There is lots of screaming, heavy panting and other wierd noises coming from Bjork and her backup singers.

I like Bjork pushing the boundaries, but this time I think she went over the edge.
