Up close and personal with Björk,
By A Customer
This review is from: Bjork - Vessel [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I had already owned "Live at shepherds bush empire 97" prior to buying this video. When I ordered it I really didn't know what to expect. I mean, I loved Live at shepherd's bush and I wasn't sure as I thought that perhaps I was going to get a "repeat" of that video without the "Post" songs or something of the sort. But I must say that I was very surpreised when I finally watched it. One thing in particular. This video feels very personal. In the little "interviews" with Björk between songs she displays all her "charm".....some of her innocence or perhaps a bit about the way she sees the world (how she couldn't live without her ears, how she writes her songs, how she met her musicians, etc). But the "up close and personal" aspect of this video doesn't just end with the interviews. Her performance on stage feels very personal. Live at Shepherds was a very good performance but sometimes it just felt as if there was no audience there but in Vessel you get a completely different feeling. She even waves and smiles at the crowd. As for the performance, and just as in LASB97, I must say that once again it's superb. Perfect voice....I'm still baffled about how does she do it. The video has every song from debut except for "Like someone in love" (if I remember correctly) and it features an unpublished song (well, at least for those who don't have the japanese version of "Debut") called "Atlantic". This is really a fantastic song (a shame that it wasn't included in any album) and it sounds a great deal better in the live performance in "Vessel" that in the studion version in the japanese "Debut". Those who have watched LASPE97 will probably recognize the mixer (Leyla Arab) and someone that seems to be a very young Guy Sigsworth. So, is it worth buying. YES indeed. If you're a Björk fan you're sure to enjoy the live performance AND the "interviews" because (despite sounding like a Björk-addict) she's absolutely charming in those interviews....very chaming indeed.

This review is from: Bjork - Vessel (DVD)
First off, Debut is my least favorite of Bjork's albums. When I saw this at the store I couldnt help but buying it though (its bjork, it cant be bad!) So I started it up expecting it to be a little better than the live on MTV Unplugged DVD. Well, I was very suprised!! I believe this is my second favorite Bjork concert DVD next to RoH. Bjork is so awesome :)

One of the BEST Bjork DVD's!,
This review is from: Bjork - Vessel (DVD)
There is something about Bjork that is in one word: UNIQUE. She's not the typical drop-dead gorgeous type of woman that we are used to seeing 99% of the time in pop culture, and yet her cuteness and eccentricity is far more raw and beautiful. She has a very innocent and yet mysterious way of describing the world. In this DVD it's just a treat to see it. And her performances i believe were far better than the MTV Unplugged versions, in this DVD she seems to be much more raw and edgy, as well as having more of a voice about how she felt during a certain time and place. Not to mention that the whole DVD in general was well done and very unique and incredible. Highly recommended!!!!!
