5.0 out of 5 stars Symphonic Danzig, July 25, 2007
This review is from: Black Aria (Audio CD)
This is a masterpiece. Glenn Danzig shows that he can compose music outside of the Misfits/Samhain/Danzig realm with this moody orchestral composition. Worth getting to say the very least. BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must own for everyone., October 6, 2009
This review is from: Black Aria (Audio CD)
This is by far Glenn Danzig's best work, I own all his Danzig cds and most of his Misfits and Sam Hain cds as well. This has been discribed by Glenn Danzig as a soundtrack to the epic poem Paradise Lost by John Milton. This is great background music to play if you're reading that book or really anything else with demonic, angelic, dark fantasy or gothic tone. The cd is on the short side but that is the only downfall, the music is classical 'score' style, dark and conveys and epic feel without the pertension that usually accompanies music that attempts that. I have listened to many cds of this type; however, this is by far the best of the lot. The sequel Black Aria II is good but not nearly as good as this. This is a must buy, but do note that this is not a metal or rock cd.

I found this in a CD resale shop. I asked the clerk if I could preview it. And promptly fell out of my chair. I was that floored. This is a one of a kind cd from Danzig.. and i have listened to a hell of a lot of Danzig. Beautiful and moving. I loved it.

I've been a fan of Glenn Danzig's work for 20 years now, since I got into the Misfits when I was 12 and then Danzig when I was 14. I've been a dedicated metalhead the whole time, but I also get into other genres when I hear something exceptional, like country, jazz, occasionally even pop if it's TRULY exceptional. I have never liked classical... I will admit to liking some Bach, because it sounds like metal, but that's been about it. It took me 15 years to buy this because when it came out, I thought "Danzig made a classical record? What??" I didn't think I'd be into it, and at the time, I probably wouldn't have been.

I found this album at absolutely the right time for me to appreciate it. Glenn Danzig's music has been, in a way, a soundtrack to my life. Hell, I even had four of his songs on the mix CD that I listened to while giving birth to my daughter. Oh, yeah! The midwives were a bit freaked out...

Now I wish I had heard this CD before then, because a few tracks from it would have been on that CD. This is gorgeous, moving and glorious, as only truly great music can be. I have always found Danzig's vocals to be all those things, and I figured I wouldn't like this since his voice is absent from it, but it's so awesome, when I'm listening to it I forget that he normally makes metal, and I'm transported, just as he wishes to fans in the liner notes.

Favorite track: The Morrigu. That track made my jaw drop and about blew me out of my chair with its beauty.

I also have to say, I love the cover art. It's so beautiful and is definitely evocative and representative of what's contained within.

Every Danzig fan should own this!

4.0 out of 5 stars Bravo Danzig, August 22, 2007
This review is from: Black Aria (Audio CD)
This is an amazing albulm. Sure, at first i didn't expect much from this albulm. No vocals? But this is an amazing soundtrack. Just listening to this albulm with the volume and bass turned all the way up is an adventure all in its own. This albulm is a must buy for all you Danzig fans. Black Aria II is a miss though, so don't bother with it. Black Aria is a one of a kind cd
