4.0 out of 5 stars Sequel to Angel Eyes, December 26, 2009
This review is from: Black Aura (Paperback)
After Lake Johnson's psychic abilities failed her, which almost cost a friend's life, she takes a holiday in Taos, New Mexico. There she meets Max, the owner of a local art gallery, who has psychic abilities of his own. Their happiness is soon disturbed when a killer comes after Max' daughter Alyssa, another psychic, and Lake. He murders women with psychic talents to 'collect' their powers. In order to save Alyssa and herself, Lake will have to use her talent, as will Max.

This book is connected to 'Angel Eyes' but can also be read on its own. I liked the characters, and the suspense plot is good, too. As with 'Angel Eyes' I feel that the author could do better and that some depth and intensity is missing. I get the impression that this may have got something to do with the publisher, Samhain, who often have authors who wrote fantastic books with other publishers, then continue to write not nearly as well with Samhain. Part of the problem may be that Samhain- books are comparatively short, which makes it impossible to write as intensely and deeply as with longer books. So this author is definitely talented and the novel not bad (maybe 3,5 stars, not quite 4), but I know she can do better. Try her Deadly-series, if you can get it (it's just going out of print with New Concepts Publishing). That one's fantastic.
