Product Description

Who doesn't appreciate a peaceful day of fishing? This is your chance to bring the peace home with you. The Black Bass is a fishing simulation game developed by HOT-B for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The object of the game is to catch as many fish as you can before the sun goes down. You choose where in the lake you want to fish, as well as which lure you're going to use. Move the lure around to attract fish. You want to reel them in once they bite, but if you reel them in too hard you risk breaking the line! If you love fishing, then you'll definitely want to check out this early fishing video game!

5.0 out of 5 stars fishing in your living room!, January 26, 2004

This review is from: Black Bass (Video Game)
I know most people will look at fishing video games and giggle but every once in a while you will actually find a fishing game that's good! One of those games is the Black Bass for the NES. I paid a LOT of money for this game when I bought it used back in the day (45 bucks... MAN!) and even though I shouldn't have done that, in a way it was worth it. After all, this is one fine fishing game. You actually catch fish, unlike Super Black Bass where you just sit around waiting forever and never get a bite.

In this fantastic fishy funfest, you will hear an incredibly catchy theme on the title screen (you know, the screen showing a fish swimming across the screen) before you pick the lake you want to fish. I can still remember every note of that theme to this day.

Oh yeah, the fishing part! Can't forget about that (since that's the main thing you do, not to mention the ONLY thing!)

Not much in the way of options (such as bait and hooks and all that) and you know what? That's how it *should* be. Fishing should be simple! Just a pole, a hook and a worm is how I like to fish. How about you? Keep it simple! And that's what this game does. The only thing that would make it more simple would be an option to grab a shovel and dig your own nightcrawlers after a fresh evening rain.

You just throw your hook in the water and wait for a fish to come. You don't have to wait long because the lakes in this game are LOADED with fish. Then you get to try to pull in a big fish and brag about it to all your friends! Sometimes you'll bring a fish in, other times it will get away

Ah, but that's okay. This game is excellent and deserves 5 stars. That's right! I gave a fishing game 5 stars!
