Biography

One of the most inventive, versatile and intriguing jazz singers on the scene today, Beata Pater is not only an improvising vocalist but an arranger, composer and violinist. Her haunting voice is as effective on moody ballads as it is on uptempo material and she is notable both for her wordless flights and for her ability to dig deep into the hidden meanings of lyrics. 5.0 out of 5 stars "Black" Is Beata's Best CD So Far June 16, 2008
Format:Audio CD
This CD really shows the maturity of this beautiful singer, whose
work I have followed for some years now. Her usual wide vocal
range is better than ever, with those great deep smoky notes. And
the selection of songs and the arrangements are first-rate. I was
lucky enough to be in Japan when Beata came through on her recent
tour, and her shows featured songs from "Black." I have my
fingers crossed that recordings were made, and that there will be
a "Black Live in Japan" album in the near future.
Her performances were electric, not to mention the thrilling work of
her pianist and musical director, the great Mark Little. Sugoi!

5.0 out of 5 stars WoW!! Sarah Vaughn with a kick! February 25, 2008
Format:Audio CD
I'm very impressed...the Moon River is out of this world. Check out the sax attack on this one. All the songs are classic standards of the jazz world reworked in a modern way. You can hear the difference that an international life brings to an artist - no over-produced schlock here. its on-the-money and in-the-pocket. Its amazing that it was recorded in two days.
