5.0 out of 5 stars Rolling Blackouts Generating Power, August 11, 2004
By
This review is from: Black Is Beautiful (Audio CD)
This album is a compilation of many years of hard work for this young band. The band is known for it's LOUD high energy in your face punk riffing madness...typical of their blue collar upbringing in the LA harbor area. This disk is full of the core energy that the band projects during their performances. Their songs are tight and the lyrics to the point. In addition, we are treated to other surprises in outstanding lyrics and song writing. You will dig the transition from one song to the next as if turning a corner and finding a new adventure. You will notice and realize that there are several "hit songs" in this debut CD as if the band is releasing their 3rd or 4th album. Check out the track "Black Cake" to get a taste of the bands rise and then just move out to "UP UP UP". When your ready to vent then turn "Overdrive" up and let go. Got a hot date? Then pump up with "Lots of Love". This is the work of a high energy band not afraid to learn from the old school groups from years past and blend these influences into their own unique style. Not a bad tune in the lot and not a bad start for the Rolling Blackouts major debut album. They were right, black is beautiful. Enjoy

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Band, July 2, 2005

This review is from: Black Is Beautiful (Audio CD)
I went to a club on to see if any bands were playing and found these guys. I was very impressed. These guys have a lot of energy and they are great songwriters. The album is very good and I definately recommend it. And, if you see these guys are rolling through your town, definately check them out.

5.0 out of 5 stars this is a good record., December 15, 2004
This review is from: Black Is Beautiful (Audio CD)
this is a solid record, i didn't know who these guys were until they were on the stage opening for fu manchu. this is a record that brings back the fundamentals of rock n roll: having fun, making some music, and inspiring people to shake their asses. if you're into the INC or the EODM you'll definitely appreciate this. standout tracks: Mrs. Bitter, Rock Paper Scissors, Up Up Up
