2.0 out of 5 stars not necro worthy!
i have been a big necrophagia fan ever since i picked up legacy of gore, horror, and sickness from harmony house like 8 years ago. i dont know what this album is. this is pathetic because i know that killjoy, anton crowley (phil anselmo) wayne could do much better than this. necrophagia should be in every death metal collection. killjoy has a way of making you feel the...

I myself have been trying hard to classify this record. It seems that Necrophagia's'Block Blood Vomitorium' stretches beyong classification. By mixing black metal, gore metal, death metal, and grindcore together Killjoy, Phil Anselmo, Dustin Havnen, and Wayne Fabra have released the epitome of what metal should sound like. Unlike a lot of bands, Necrophagia has never tried to follow the metal trend of the moment and this album proves it. 'Black Blood Vomitorium' shows Killjoy at his strongest both lyrically and vocally - his screams seem cleaner (in a good way) than normal, and the lyrics are both gore filled and well thought out. Also, I have never heard the band play so well before, it seems that they have all struck a cord when the were recording this album. Even if the rest of the album was terrible it would still recieve five stars for "They Dwell Beneath". this is not only my favorite song on the album, it is my favorite Necrophagia track so far. But the rest of the C.D. is just as good as it. I really enjoy this C.D., my only complaint is that it should have been longer, I really would have liked to see the same consistency with their full lengths. Oh well. This album is absolutely amazing and is a must have for metal fans.

Ahh, this is good good good stuff! This is my very 1st experience with the barbaric Necro... and I must say they absolutely rule! Too bad this is only an EP after your done listening to this, ur left thirsting for another listen! My fave track on here is probably #1 real catchy and destructive, you'll definitely be banging ur head to this one! I like all the tracks on here, to tell u the truth & I think they're killer works of death/black metal! The last track Isn't a song, though. It's just an outro with a demonic voice talking about hell demons & stuff. All I need to get is their previous opus. Also check out a band called "IMPIETY" Great Black/Thrash!Infernal Hails to NECROPHAGIA!

I never was into music before, I was always a horror movie fanatic. And now since I am new to the music world I do not know much about it. But one of my favorite bands are Necrophagia. Killjoy has some of the greatest lyrics and the coolest voice in death metal. I am a big Fulci fan and that got me really into "And You Will Live In Terror." This CD is a must for death metal fans, Fulci fans, or anyone (except Pro Life Christians mind you)

Jenna Jameson was the cover model and a friend of killjoy's.

Necrophagia is better than they first appear. Anselmo is also a better guitar player than I first thought also. The vocals could use some work, but it is still cool.

When I first listened to this disc, I wasn't certain what to think. It definitely had heavy connotations as the beat hammered itself out, the lyrics were of a delicious darker variety, and the vocals were, well, beautifully expressive and of the nightmarish sort. Still, it only had four tracks on it, something I normally avoid at all costs because I hate short discs. That said, I found a few something's here that made this is something of a treasure in the "death metal" genre and made it worth picking up. I

First, it involves a theme that doesn't simply revolve on the same cliche axis that death metal likes to play on. Instead of simply focusing solely on the fields of demonic play, it focuses on horror movies and the themes they possess. I was first attracted by "And You Will Live in Terror," a song brought into the limelight because of its inspiration, The Beyond, but I found another jewel here as well. "It Lives in the Woods," a song focusing on the wonders of the Evil Dead, was also a treat to find tucked away here.

Secondly, the lyrics defy the atypical by actually describing the subject matter in \detail. After listening to the two movie tracks, I was impressed by the way they provided excellent descriptions of the subject matter. I could feel those forms skulking through the woods and the wonders of opening a gateway to hell. This, by and far, is something of a rarity with any type of music.

Lastly, the quality of the recording and the packaging itself is wonderful. I was surprised by the packaging detail and its lovely array of The Beyond memorabilia, with the undead looking lovely and the warlock, well, bleeding profusely. The digital transfers looked good and, more importantly, like they cost something to develop, adding to the theme of the album in look as well as feel. Add to this the fact that the quality of the recording was excellent and you have yourself a few reasons to at least check this out.

If you want to check it out and make certain that this is for you, simply watch The Beyond and watch the extras on the DVD version.

4.0 out of 5 stars Necro, April 12, 2002
This review is from: Black Blood Vomitorium (Audio CD)
Necrophagia plays a very unique style of death metal. While they are definitely not the easiest band to get into, they are definitely one of the more powerful bands of this genre out there. Fast and heavy guitars and drums. Vocals that more resemble a chainsaw than a human being. Not your standard "cookie monster" vocals. Very interesting.
