4.0 out of 5 stars Appreciator of Vocalists AND Musicians, October 4, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Black & Blue (Audio CD)
On reading the reviews, including Mr. Tuominen's own statement, I'm amazed that he has not given each of the musicians on this album more individual recognition. Especially the horn players ... Al Gomez and Louie Bustos are incredible!! And, how can anyone comment on how much they like this music and NOT mention the vocalist. Clyneese Folsom should get some well-deserved recognition herself. No doubt, Mr. Tuominen has done a great job of arranging and guitar-playing, but without the rest of these folks ... wouldn't have been much, now would it!! Hats off to the ENTIRE crew on this one.

THIS IS A GORGEOUS ALBUM. I HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR SOME OF THE ORIGINAL RECORDINGS OF THESE TANGOS, AND JARTSE HAS DONE A BEAUTIFUL JOB WITH THE ARRANGEMENTS AND MUSIC. MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE IS "THIS LITTLE HEART OF MINE". VERY ROMANTIC, VERY HAUNTING MELODY. KEEP YOUR EARS OUT FOR HIS NEW RELEASES......HE IS AMAZING!!

A great CD!!! Jartse has done a great job in taking these classic Finnish Tangos and transposing them into a sultry Blues/Jazz format. I have given several copies of this CD to family and friends and each and every one has thoroughly enjoyed this CD.

I received this CD as a gift, and such a gift it was! Jartse Tuominen has presented Tango and Blues in a combination that that works unbelievably well. You have GOT to listen to this to believe it. Blues fans will love it, but it certainly has something for everyone, no matter what your musical preference. Do some more, Jartse!

This CD really surprised me! Blues played with minor chords of tango... with great Texan musicians like Augie Meyers! Jartse Tuominen has really done a phenomenal work with his guitar and arranging. Loved the lyrics, too!
