Anyways, LOVE THIS SERIES!!! LOVE THE ART!!! LOVE THE CHARACTERS!!!!!KKYAAA!!!! this is the first volume that the front cover isn't a pic of Sebastian but of Ciel instead. I'm not complaining. this is a nice change~. Content-wise, it's the beginning of the Circus Arc!!!!!! my fave arc so far in this series cuz i've read all the japanese translations online that's been out so far, but I love this series so much i'm collecting all the manga anyways! The circus arc is BEAUTIFUL the outfits are so intricate and stylish, the makeup is amazing, and the borders and such drawn for embellishment go so well with the art~. Also this shows Ciel's more clumsy side.
Unfortunately, if you're looking for more main plot, this volume might disappoint, however with all the jokes and hidden character development for Ciel, I say it's well worth it. People need to look carefully and analyze why Ciel does what he does and makes certain decisions since that's who he is.
Ahem, not to mention, SEBASTIAN IS HAWT AS ALWAYS~~~!!!!!! <3 <3 <3 My dear Sebas-chan looks so good in circus gear and make-up even tho he didn't change his outfit too much, the little embellishments still look good~~~ *Q* i can stare at his pics for hours...... ^////^ i'm a fangirl, can't you tell?
Anyways, GET THIS VOLUME! GET THIS SERIES! IT'S AMAZING!!
5 out of 5 stars.
Children are going missing and their disappearances are linked to a traveling circus. Queen Victoria asks Ciel to look into this traveling circus and figure out what is going on.
This was an incredibly fun and entertaining volume in this series. We get some wonderful scenes with the Undertaker (who I absolutely love).
We also get some very hilarious scenes between Sebastian and a tiger. In the end Sebastian and Ciel have to join the circus to continue their investigation. The relationship between Sebastian and Ciel continues to be intriguing; it goes between resentment and a strange sort of caring.
Along the way we meet a whole bevy of new and zany characters. We also again bump into one of the Grim Reapers. The Grim Reaper discusses some interesting aspects of Sebastian's character, further unraveling a small portion of the mystery surround Sebastian.
There is a lot of action, some beautiful illustration and costume design, and lots of mystery.
Overall this was an absolutely spectacular addition to this manga series. I am absolutely loving the characters, the story, the action, and the illustration. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I would recommend to those who enjoy shounen manga with a historical and supernatural bent to it.
I wasn't particularly impressed by the first 2/3 of this volume, but the final 1/3 blew me away. Toboso has an excellent way of building suspense by increasing the action through cutting between two scenes. The technique has been around since the Soviet films of the 1920s and can be seen in any competent thriller or horror movie, but in Black Butler, it's done as well as I've seen in a comic or manga. ****
