Plagiarism
Black California: The History of African Americans in the Golden State is a well-written overview of African Americans in California but this can be attributed to the fact that Wheeler plagiarized the majority of his material. Entire paragraphs in Wheeler book have been taken from others... I think it is sad that Wheeler stole the words of others and therefore do not...

I find __Black California: The History of African-Americans in the Golden State__ an information gem. It opens the reader to a startlingly different perspective on the history of California by documenting the contributions of a people who have been viewed in limited terms or virtually excluded from California or American history in an open and direct way.
Few know the history of California from a diverse perspective. I'm glad B. Gordon Wheeler had the courage to research and tell it. O
