As young as age 10, Mico Brunson was always strategically planning something. Regardless if it was as small as beating up the school yard bullies, or selling candy to his classmates, to something as large as selling and receiving stolen bikes, and transporting drugs, to murdering his enemies, Mico changed the scheme of things and played by his own set of rules.
BLACK CHAMELEON MEMOIRS SURVIVAL BY ASSIMILATION by Montez DeCarlo takes you through the life of Mico and his struggles to keep from failing. As fate would have it, Mico could never walk the right path, as something risky was always forcing him to the opposite side. Instead of fighting it, Mico dealt with it by living both by the law and on the wrong side of the law. BLACK CHAMELEON MEMOIRS SURVIVAL BY ASSIMILATION is a very quick and entertaining read.

The Best of Both Worlds,
By OOSA Online Book Club "O.O.S.A. Gets It Read!" (World Wide Web, USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Black Chameleon Memoirs (Paperback)
BLACK CHAMELEON MEMOIRS presents the story of Mico Brunson and his rise up the criminal and corporate ladder. How he escaped with his life and what he found out about himself in the days, weeks and months afterward, from the small scale to the large. Equipped with the lessons taught by his father, Mico, like a chameleon, can adjust and maneuver in both worlds. But he can't remain in both forever. Which will win out?
DeCarlo draws us into the drama of Mico's life; not only his introduction to crime, but also his friendships, his parents' temperamental marriage, his special bond with his aunt and his volatile relationship with his mother. Solid writing, well-paced plot and well-developed characters, BLACK CHAMELEON MEMOIRS is an impressive debut effort, an enjoyable read, and I look for to more from Montez DeCarlo.
