4.0 out of 5 stars Another exciting BLack Coat mystery, February 23, 2009
This review is from: The Black Coats: 'Salem Street (Paperback)
The Black Coats strike again! This time they are scheming to use a false claimant to the French throne ina complex swindle. The novel introduces two notable characters in the series. The first is Coyatier, the fearsome executioner of the Black Coats. He has a penchant for walling people up alive. The second is Pistolet, a young wisecracking street urchin who's a heroic version of the Artful Dodger. The best villains of the saga are all present: The Colonel, Lecoq and the beautiful Countess de Clare. The Colonel and Lecoq have a fascinating relationship. They each pretend affection for one other, but are constantly trying to undermine each other.
