Wasted Youth started life in the early 80s as a California hardcore band, establishing themselves as a popular act among the Los Angeles punk underground scene. As the decade progressed, the band started adding metallic elements to their sound, becoming a full fledged crossover thrash act by the time of this 1989 album, their final release.
For crossover thrash fans this album will prove more than satisfying despite the awfully bad production, even by late 80s standards, which makes the band sound tiny and muddled thanks in no small part to abusively high reverb levels in the final mix. Some people claim that aside from the usual suspects, you know, all those bands with acronyms for names plus Suicidal Tendencies, Wasted Youth and Evildead were the true kings of crossover thrash. If this is it, my vote would go for the latter, since they manage to release two great albums in this style that sounded a lot better.

Amazing album,

This is a great album. These guys started out as a punk band, but this record was a fusion of metal and punk. This is one of my favourite records of all time, it's that good.
Never heard much from them after this record though. The rythymn guitarist now plays in Velvet Revolver.
