4.0 out of 5 stars Good Crossover Thrash Hampered by Bad Production, January 31, 2011

Wasted Youth started life in the early 80s as a California hardcore band, establishing themselves as a popular act among the Los Angeles punk underground scene. As the decade progressed, the band started adding metallic elements to their sound, becoming a full fledged crossover thrash act by the time of this 1989 album, their final release.
For crossover thrash fans this album will prove more than satisfying despite the awfully bad production, even by late 80s standards, which makes the band sound tiny and muddled thanks in no small part to abusively high reverb levels in the final mix.
Some people claim that aside from the usual suspects, you know, all those bands with acronyms for names plus Suicidal Tendencies, Wasted Youth and Evildead were the true kings of crossover thrash. If this is it, my vote would go for the latter, since they manage to release two great albums in this style that sounded a lot better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing album, January 2, 2005

This is a great album. These guys started out as a punk band, but this record was a fusion of metal and punk. This is one of my favourite records of all time, it's that good.
Never heard much from them after this record though.
The rythymn guitarist now plays in Velvet Revolver.

Hardly anyone knows about this cd, but it was a rippin' gem of a thrash cd. Wasted Youth used to be punk, but on this cd it is ALL old school thrash. Picture Excel but sped up. I love the style and riffs on this - a totally southern california, unique sound. If you like thrash, you will NOT be disappointed in this cd.

they used to be a punk band, but weren't very good, then the rhythym guitarist fired everyone and started a metal band,he chose to keep the name of his former band Wasted Youth, this is one of the greatest thrash/speed metal albums of all time,it's a shame they never got big, there was a video for"good day for a hanging",in my opinion the best metal video ever, but it was only on T.V. twice aired on Headbangers Ball in 1988 then played again in 2003
