My 2 Dustbusters are a life-saver. I have had one for years and just bought the CHV1408 to have another around the house. I have 3 cats and a dog and use the Dustbuster every day to clean up spills, fur, or tracked litter. This model is even easier to use since it slides out of the charger smoothly. It has a stronger motor and a larger dirt reservoir than the other models at the same price point. Emptying it is a snap (the other model sticks a bit) and the slide-out suction extender (for lack of a better term) is a nice addition.

I see some of the funniest comments about these.

1- It won't last longer than 10 minutes (If you're vacuuming for 10 minutes then it's not a job for a little dustbuster).

2- It's a mess to empty (who empties a vacuum in their house to begin with? Do it outside!)

3- The filter gets dirty quickly (that's because it's a tiny product to begin with. Any bigger and it wouldn't be a Dustbuster).

Honestly, this is a boring, no frills, does what it should product. Yeah, you have to dump it pretty often. I never use it more than a few minutes but I bet it doesn't last much beyond 10. The construction is good enough but not noteworthy.

Just buy it. Keep it simple, ya' know? Keep the box and receipts if you have a problem. In fact, it's probably best to pay a few extra bucks and buy it locally in case you do have some issue with it.

I have bought many of Black and Decker Dustbusters over the years and this one is also a good product. Has good suction, and easy to use. I have found that the battery last a little over two years and then you need to replace the unit. I found that Wallmart has this product at a better price them I got it.

I gave this 2 stars instead of one because it was a good vacuum, until I couldn't charge it anymore! It seems though that every cordless handheld vacuum has battery issues. Maybe I fried it by keeping it on the charger too long, but I didn't seem to have a choice. When I needed to vacuum out the car, but had already used it a little the previous day and didn't put it on the charger, it died too quickly on me. Even after charging it and leaving it alone for a couple of days it loses power...which is why I always had it on the charger. For a year this worked great and then...nothing. I wish they had some kind of place on the web that has this specific problem listed and the reasons for it. You shouldn't have to replace a hand held vacuum evey year!

I cannot believe they do not sell a replacement battery for this. Ours is fairly new, and does not hold a charge. I opened it up all the way and found about 12 "c" like batteries that were from a Chinese factory. They are not retail batteries and would involve soldering to replace. Its really a scam. Battery is SC1500P; google that and good luck.

This product was used as a gift for my daughter's new year present. They like it very much because it is easy to use; high efficiency to suck the dusts and good looking. It is specially for the family has kids, so that the carpet is always needed to clean immediately after the accidents. I think each family should have one for requirement. And it could also be used for car inside cleaning. The price is reasonable according to the quality. I highly recommend anyone should have one at home.

This product don't works well. The battery holds for 2 or 3 minutes only. I did charged for more than 21 hours before I used. I am very disappointed.

I am somewhat disappointed in this cordless vacuum. I bought it to supplement my old Black and Decker 14.4V Dustbuster (which still works after 5 years) but I find that the suction is not as good, nor do I like the on/off switch design. Although the power is supposedly the same as the old one, it just doesn't seem to pick up as easily and the switch kind of hurts my thumb because of the design and because it doesn't slide easily!

I purchased two of these dustbusters. I have always kept one on each level of our home because they are so useful for quick cleaning jobs. The two I purchased this time, included one as a gift for my granddaughter. She called me the other night and the first thing she said was: "How did I ever live without a dustbuster!" This model is the best one I have used, and I am enjoying it immensely. Thank you.

The vacuum action is terrific, but the design has a problem. The slot on the back of the dust cup can break when the cup is removed for emptying.
Other than that, this is a good appliance. Dust enters the cup through a small port high up on the cup and does not fall out when the works are put on the charger.
Order extra filters (not the pleated ones that Amazon tricks you into buying when you buy the machine because they are listed along with the correct filters) because they plug up and you will want to wash them out and swap in a clean dry one just about every time the machine is emptied.
