5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job!
I got one of these for Christmas and I love it. Great for small jobs (picking up litter, hair, dust). We've even used it in our cars. Charging is convenient, too. No bulky cradle to worry about mounting on the wall, there is just a plug. Also, I was happy to see that replacement filters were available both from Black and Decker AND Amazon should I need them.

1.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for.
I bought this for the little things, and for that it works- as long as it doesn't take you more than about 3-4 minutes to clean up. The battery on this thing sucks. It takes a long time to get a full charge and a full charge means only about 4 minutes of battery usage.
Save yourself the frustration and spend the extra few dollars to get a higher quality vacuum.

I was looking for something small to put near our litterpan since the cats track the clay out of the box when exiting. I found this vacuum at a fair price and decided to give it a try. It does a perfect job! I owned the original model when it first came out years ago. This one is more streamlined and improved. The Dustbuster is the right choice for little cleanups.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lousy battery sends it to the landfill fast, August 18, 2009

This nasty little unit is an environmental disaster. Do not buy it.

A convenient product for the 2 years it held a charge, now it's junk. I used mine sparingly and tried to unplug the continuous charger to conserve power.

This thing charges all day, which kills the battery, eats up power, and results in a dead battery in no time. Even worse, the battery is not replaceable.

My replacement was a Shark brand. Works great and I think most or all of their mini vacs have batteries that are replaceable.

I have bought two dust busters in three years. They do work great for small things like lint and hair, etc. However at some point within a year maybe a year and a half with little usage (a couple of times a week for a couple of minutes at the most) it will not charge anymore. You do get what you pay for and I will be buying from another manufacturer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Recharge Design, Fat & Bulky, Only Fair Suction, February 28, 2010
This review is from: Black & Decker 4.8-Volt Compact Cordless HandVac, CHV4800 (Kitchen)
I have owned many Dustbusters over the years, getting 3-4 years use out of most of them before they die. But, with prior models, the Dustbuster was installed into a wall-mounted snap-in, snap-out charging base, which made retreival for use and reinsertion when finished a very quick and simple operation. This one, however, was designed so cheaply and poorly that you have to hang this fat, bulky hunk of plastic on a plastic wall hook, then manually plug a wired power adapter plug into a hole behind the grab handle. What moron designed this horrible thing? It certainly wasn't anyone who has ever had to USE one at home almost daily. As for suction, it's only fair compared to others that I've owned. And PLEASE Black & Decker, do you HAVE to keep changing the design of the stupid filters so often? Why can't you make one universal style of filter that will work for ANY dustbuster that you make, year after year? I've had to spend too much money on throwing away useless spare filters that I had on hand when the old Dustbuster died and they wouldn't fit the new model just released, even the same voltage model. I'm hoping that Sony or Toshiba will design a Dustbuster that will last for many years (and won't break) and will be ergonomically designed with the user in mind, and that one that will use a universal filter. Black & Decker has forgoten to keep the user in mind and is apparently only focusing on profits, cheapen the units to make more money, change the filter design to keep the customers confused and make them purchase more expensive spare filters that they can't use on the next model we sell. This may be my last Black & Decker Dustbuster brand of hand vac that I buy.

I have waited forever to buy a dustbuster, I don't know why. Well, now I do. This product has exceeded my expectations. It picks up great. I have a dog who chews up all of her toys and leave bits and pieces of plastic and stuffing all over the place. It is a lot easier using the dustbuster than taking the vaccum out all of the time. This product is great!

For about 2 years (with very light usage), this DustBuster worked well enough. Its not powerful, but for the price, it helped with basic clean-up of dirty carpets. After 2 years, though, it stopped charging. Now it can't last at full power (which is only 4.8 volts) for more than a few seconds. I should have just spent more money on a better quality vacuum cleaner in the first place.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, March 19, 2006
This review is from: Black & Decker 4.8-Volt Compact Cordless HandVac, CHV4800 (Kitchen)
I'm a college student and I purchased this vaccum to remove the hair, lint etc that always gets into my dorm room rug. After trying the vaccum out I quickly found out that it was not going to get the job done. However I still use the vaccum because its perfect for cleaning up messes on hardware surfaces.
