Product Description

Amazon.com

This battery-powered sprayer delivers a consistent 20 psi without any hand pumping, thanks to Black & Decker’s 7.2 volt VersaPack battery system. Big, rugged wheels take the strain off your back, allowing you to tote 3.5 gallons of liquid with ease, delivering insecticides, fungicides, sealers, etc. through a tough, six-foot hose and a choice of fan and cone nozzles. The unit comes with two batteries, so one can charge while the other’s in use. The curved, ergonomic handle telescopes from 35 to 37 inches for comfort. The tank detaches easily for cleaning, and the wand clips to the handle for neat storage. Lots of nice innovations to make chores easier.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

From the Manufacturer

The Cordless Rechargeable Power Sprayer (VP450) introduces a whole new way to spray fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, sealants, fungacides and more. The 7.2-volt rechargeable power pump sprayer provides a consistent 20 psi, full-pressured spray and eliminates the need to manually build pressure by hand pumping. The VP450 will spray up to 9 gallons of liquid spray per charge. The 3 gallon capacity, high density, polyethylene transluscent tank is durable and allows the user to visibly see the amount of liquid remaining in the tank at all times. An adjustable tank handle ranging from 35- to 37 inches has wheels to eliminate carrying a heavy tank for greater ease of use. A 6 foot durable hose which sprays up to 25 inches provides greater reach with more accessability for hard to reach areas. The cone nozzle is adjustable from a straight stream to a misting fan nozzle for sealants. The unfilled unit weighs only 8.8 pounds allowing for versatility and less fatigue. Includes the power pump, a three-gallon tank, a six-foot hose, two spray nozzles (for garden and deck use), two rechargeable VersaPak batteries and the VersaPak charger. 30 day no-risk satisfaction guarantee and full two-year warranty.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kansas housewife review, November 27, 2000

This review is from: Black & Decker 7.2-volt Cordless Power Sprayer VP450 (Lawn & Patio)
This product earns it's cost after one season of use -- no pumping as with the manual type tanks -- wheels that pull the unit easily through grass so you don't have to carry it -- quickly distributes an entire tank of "whatever" on my flowers, shrubs, and lawn. The only drawback I encountered was with understanding the rechargable batteries. Per B&D customer service, you must keep the batteries in the recharging unit whenever the sprayer is not in use or they slowly discharge and won't be ready when you are. Also, I sometimes need more then 3 tanks of liquid when spraying very large areas so I will probably buy the B&D "gold" rechargable batteries which are suppose to have 60% more usage time versus the batteries that come with the unit. Great Product - I'm buying another one for my Dad.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good sprayer, October 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Black & Decker 7.2-volt Cordless Power Sprayer VP450 (Lawn & Patio)
Important things to know about this sprayer are:
1. You have to be VERY careful not to lose the 'O' ring that seals the top. It is hard to find a replacement and the sprayer will not work correctly without it. What happens is that the machine keeps running because it's trying to pressurize the tank, but because the tank will not seal without the 'O' ring, the constant running of the machine will drain the batteries. If you hear hissing, and the machine keeps running and running, the tank is not properly sealed. You need to unscrew the top and put it back on again to get a seal. Once you get the hang of closing it, it's not a problem.
2. If you have a larger than average yard, you should buy an extra set of the rechargeable batteries so you don't run out of power before you are done spraying. I always recharge the batteries the night before I'm going to spray.
3. The sprayer is somewhat 'tippy' over uneven ground.

Other than those 3 things, (which are not really serious problems but should be taken into consideration) this is a very easy way to apply sprays in the garden. The sprayer produces a good spray and is easy to use. It is much easier to use than the kind of sprayers you have to pump by hand. I have used mine for 2 years and am very satisfied with it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Battery Charge Doesn't Last Long, May 28, 2003
By
This review is from: Black & Decker 7.2-volt Cordless Power Sprayer VP450 (Lawn & Patio)
This sprayer performed great while the batteries were charged. The pressure was even and the tip made a nice, fine spray. The trouble is no matter how long I charged the batteries, they would go dead after spraying only about 1.5 gallons of liquid -- they couldn't even empty one tank-full of liquid. This caused big problems for the project I was working on. The product description says that it can spray "up to" 9 gallons of liquid on a single battery charge. Either my unit has some battery problems or B&D is wildly exagerating. ...
