5.0 out of 5 stars I love this blender
This blender has never caused me one bit of trouble. I've had it for years and still love it. My Magic Bullet broke, other blenders fizzled out, but this one has stood the test of time.

Don't buy this blender. I bought it to make smoothies in the morning. We used it twice and the blender began to smoke and finally just shut down. I expected that Black and Decker would make a more quality product, but apparently not.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible blender, breaks down fast, horrid burning smell, November 19, 2008

I don't usually review appliances but I had such a terrible experience with this one that I felt it necessary to warn other consumers.

It only used this blender to make fresh fruit smoothies with ice. At first it would take up to three minutes to blend the fruit and it would still leave chunks of ice. I tolerated it. Then the blender started to cut out randomly after only a few seconds of being at the highest setting. Within two months of buying it the container started to fill up with smoke and ruined the food! Was I blending rocks? No, peeled bananas - the kind of thing I could mash with a spoon.

Consumers beware. This thing looks sleek but it is so poorly made that I consider Black & Decker to be unethical. This model cost me $60 and was one of the more expensive blenders at Walmart. It had fewer features than other blenders so I assumed that the high cost meant quality construction. Wrong. I'm sure that most of the blenders at Goodwill would outlast this piece of crap. Save your money and find a more reputable company.

1.0 out of 5 stars My Experience with this blender, August 2, 2011

I really suggest that you read the reviews about most of Black and Decker blenders because most of the ratings have been very poor. Unfortunately I got mine some time ago and didn't check amazon's reviews before I made the buy.

Well my family tried to use this blender to blend pinto or black beans so we can make fried beans. Well it does a horrible job. No matter how long or how fine you try to blend the beans the skin of the beans are still apparently there. We had to use a drainer to take out the access skin away. yet there was still particles we could not take out. We did have a Cheap Oster classic and that worked amazingly great. (which i plan to buy the Oster Classic very soon).

It's important to have a blender that can blend the beans into a smooth paste, because like some people who eats a whole bean can upset a person stomach. If blended to a fine paste or for others the re-fried beans should not bother you. It's the skin of the beans that can cause these stomach problems or should i say gas problems. But as i quoted above, there was still pieces of bean skin.

Also I like to make smoothies with my blender not choppy fruit salads or soup.

From what I can understand what makes these blenders bad is this. Whenever a plastic part is used to help rotate the blades, the plastic tends to break away to easily. So I guess make sure that metal is what is helping the blends rotate since it will last longer or indefinitely.

Also a note to consumers who are interested in buying the magic bullet. If you notice the commercials or vids that whenever a person is using the M.B. they tap it. Or press the jar for a few seconds at a time. The reason they don't hold it for long periods is because the motor will burn out if you leave it to blend for more than a minute. In my research it's safe to say that you should not let the M.B. blend for more than 25-30 seconds at a time. By doing this you well be able to keep your M.B. for years or until the plastic parts give out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked fine, would replace it with the same, September 1, 2010
This review is from: Black & Decker 7-Speed Professional Series Blender - Black
I'm not sure what's happening for the other folks who got this blender-- mine worked fine. I did not have any issues with burning smell, the motor cutting out, etc. I had it for over a year and am only replacing it because a friend dropped the glass jar and broke it.
I used this primarily for smoothies. I used it 1-3 times a week for more than a year. I make my smoothies with frozen fruit and small ice cubes and it worked fine. It didn't work well on large ice cubes but I've never found a blender that did that well that cost less than $140 so I didn't really have that expectation. Every once in a while I will stir up the contents and reblend to make sure it mixes up those pesky frozen strawberries. I also occasionally used it for milkshakes, and my results were good.
I would have happily purchased the same exact one to replace this if the friend who broke mine hadn't replaced it with another brand!
