4.0 out of 5 stars Its not bad if you understand it's limits
First of all you must realize it's a 2.4 volt. Using your common sense one should understand that's it not huge in power. One also should assume in today's world why would they put anything but plastic in a light powered hand tool. It is good to keep in your kitchen junk drawer to drill some pilot holes and hang pictures etc. around the house. It's handy, it will fit in...

2.0 out of 5 stars For light duty only.
Unlike what the Black & Decker Marketing department says, don't even think about using the Black & Decker 9072CTN on furniture. It is suitable only for driving small screws into pre-drilled plastic or sheet metal, or with plastic screws. The gears inside are plastic and cannot take the torque of driving a screw without a pre-drilled shank-diameter hole that is deeper than...

It's handy, it will fit in your back pocket, which I will give it a 4 star. If I expected it to be a power house, I'd give it a 1 star. But it's a 2.4 volt. Meaning it's light weight and shouldnt even be considered for heavy jobs. I like the power and the switch to manual button, but again use it for light weight stuff. Dont expect to torgue down heavy and hard screws. It wasnt meant for that and if one thinks it is, you'll soon find those plastic gears will bust. General in the house stuff like fixing door knobs, hanging pictures, etc. It will be fine. Anything more and you'll be disappointed. For the price its not a bad light weight tool.

Unless the material is soft, it should not be used to tighten a screw.

2.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT EXPECT TO DRILL ANYTHING WITH THIS, November 14, 2008

I have a more powerful black and decker cordless screwdriver and was aniticpating the same with this version. It is very weak...the one I have that works very well is 6 volts. I believe this is 4, and IT MATTERS. It is okay for very very light duty things, but nothing more.

2.0 out of 5 stars Does not screw well, March 11, 2009
This review is from: Black & Decker 9072CTN Cordless Screwdriver (Kitchen)
I know little to nothing about power tools of any sort but I do have things around the house that need fixed now and again. I purchased this as I hate screwing things. I fear to tell you that this item was really not worth the money I paid. I have never used another brand or model, but this thing sure seems weak to me. I have to start a hole with a nail to screw in a screw and more often than not this thing does not have the power to finish the job and I have to end up screwing by hand anyway. Now I have extremely strong hands for a girl, actually stronger than many men, but screwing simply bores me and I don't like it. Even my wimpy sister has more power than this thing does. I cannot in good faith recommend this product. I know this product is recommended for home use, but hey, some screws found in the home are just as difficult as those found on a construction site, or so I am told. I fear I am still having to do everything by hand. I will give it two stars though, as it does work with small screw jobs...sort of.

2.0 out of 5 stars B&D Cordless Screwdriver, August 2, 2010
This review is from: Black & Decker 9072CTN Cordless Screwdriver (Kitchen)
I have a very mixed review of this item. I had a much older version which lasted me at least 10 years. This newer one worked fine when it worked - but it broke after about 1 year. I took it apart to see if it was fixable, but the internal gearing had broken beyond repair, so I threw it away. I suppose for the price you could consider it a disposable tool. But I would have liked it if it lasted longer. I will not be replacing it with another B&D, and I would NOT recommend this tool to anyone.

2.0 out of 5 stars not as good as my old black & decker, December 24, 2011

This review is from: Black & Decker 9072CTN Cordless Screwdriver (Kitchen)
the screwdriver is good for very light jobs. i was really disappointed, it didn't have the power of my old black and decker, that i had for years before it just quit working. you better make sure you drill the holes good before you put the screw in..i wish they would return to the old design.

2.0 out of 5 stars it's probably not what you're looking for, November 16, 2011

I bought this to assemble my Ikea furniture with and to help me make some pilot holes in my drywall. This thing broke after 1 day. It would make a great gift for a 13 yr old to start his own tool collection.
