This review is from: Black & Decker B2250 All-In-One Automatic Breadmaker for 1-1/2 to 2-Pound Loaves (Kitchen)
If you've read many breadmaker reviews like I have you'll notice many very negative reviews and many very positive reviews for the same machines. You'll also notice a tendancy for newbs to have great success and experienced users to fail dramatically. I don't understand why; though I suspect a conspiracy ;)
I am a newb bread maker, and I didn't read the other reviews on this product when I bought it on sale at ... a retail outlet for under $50. The price was great and it was the only one in the store. I knew I could return it if I wasn't happy. I wanted one as I want a better diet. I can't find any good tasting breads in stores that are also good for my blood sugars (diabetic eh). There may not be one anywhere as I now find out that all recipes have some white flour or equivalant to make them fluff up and stick together, but that's another tale. This machine has made two loaves for me without a flaw. I made the plain white sandwich bread on medium nad a Robin Hood Oatmeal Raisin bread on light. Both were fantastic! I've written enough, so I'll point form the positives and negatives I found: Positive: + does not burn. Bread was perfect. + shakes but moved only 1/4 of an inch on the #5 (3:40) setting, less on the sandwich (1:55) setting. + does not stick. Nope, it's very slippery. If you can't clean this, you should not be allowed in a kitchen. + LCD very visible + beeps loudly + very sturdy paddle. No issues. Negatives: - thin recipe book/manual. I'm skeptical of a currant bread with no currants. - buttons very hard to read - buttons backward from manual descriptions (pfft!) - cover does not come off. My 2nd loaf did stick to it a bit, and cleaning was not difficult, but if a disaster happens, cleaning could be tough. - it's a vertical bin, but that's what you pay for. So far I'm very happy.

Bring back the old!,

We purchased the B2005 model and loved it. It worked great for a few years until recently when a small metal part broke off and the unit can no longer turn the paddle. Couldn't buy a replacement part.
Not a big deal, we would buy another one. B2250 All in one pro. Black & Decker 2-lb. Programmable Bread Maker Brought it home, washed the pan, etc. Decided to try the cracked wheat sandwich bread recipe that was printed in the book. (since I wasn't sure if I could use my 'old' recipes in the new unit). Good thing that I was home. It started up fine...everything seemed to be working...until I smelled smoke/burning. Yup, it was the unit...smoke pouring out everywhere. Needless to say, I am not happy with this unit. Forget replacing it with another B2250, I don't want it. I've now read some reviews that state that the breadmakers are no longer manufactured by Black & Decker. Perhaps this is the problem? Name is still the same but the units are not. Too bad. Anyways, I'm off to find a new bread machine. It won't be a B & D.

Burns the bread and impossible to clean,

I agree with Trixie - this is a horrible bread maker.
I cannot find any settings that do not result in burned bread and its lid is permanently attached to the bread maker so if you get bread stuck (and burned) on the inside of the lid then it is impossible to clean properly. This is the B2250 machine, but its big brother, the B2300 Horizontal bread maker, has the same problems. I have tried both and they now both reside in my basement.

The first one I brought home didn't work. The second one danced all over the counter and burned the bread on light crust setting. Returned it too. I've been using a bread machine since 1995 so am not an amateur. This machine really sucks.

A disaster times two!,
This review is from: Black & Decker B2250 All-In-One Automatic Breadmaker for 1-1/2 to 2-Pound Loaves (Kitchen)
I received this bread maker as a gift. I worked twice, perfectly. Then, just wouldn't cycle through the programs and I wasted several hours and bags of flour trying to get it to work. I called Black and Decker and they sent me a replacement. The second one didn't even work once - I tried everything, then called my best friend who has a Black and Decker machine and asked her to try my machine. She also was not able to make a loaf! It turns on and beeps, then mixes the dough, then the dough just sits there and it bakes into a big wet mess. In the end, I had to pay a recycling company $50 to dispose of both of them.

I have no Idea what in the world you people are talking about. I have a B&D all in one bread machine i bought in 1990.That thing is the best, i have made hundreds of loaves of bread, pizza dough, etc, i have never had anything stick! their non-stick for crying out loud, nor have i had any bread burn. People are just making this stuff up. I cant wait till this one breaks so i can get another.i cant tell you the last loaf of bread we bought. Keep up the good work B&D.
