This drill/driver provides adequate torque (300lb vs the typical 400-450lb of a comparable 18v/20v drill/driver), and it's sufficient for the homeowner who plans to use it quite sparingly. Despite B&D being not considered seriously among contractors, they actually build decent stuff- after all, they're the parent company of DeWalt. It's a decent value, but there's one glaring problem: It only includes ONE battery, which means your projects are forced to a screeching halt while you wait out the recharge period (unless you happen to have multiple drills, like me). This can be extremely frustrating.

This drill would be a good choice if you already own compatible BD batteries for other devices. If not, you may want to consider buying something with two batteries for just a few bucks more, like the Dewalt 18v driver for $99 or so.

I have the B/D 20 volt trimmer and sweeper Combo(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00646TJT2/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00) and it has exceeded my expectations except maybe battery life even though i had an idea about it from reviews prior to purchase. They use the same batteries(except they are higher capacity) and charger as this drill. I basically bought this drill(not @Amazon) to get another charger and battery for my trimmer combo. Having said that, I have been impressed with this drill ever since. The size and weight of this drill is astounding,making it as useful a tool as I have in my arsenal. I do allot of work on the go and carrying anything heavy or extra is a burden. I now have abandoned my heavier drills 90 % of the time in favor of this one. This amazing drill fits in my main go box with all three batteries! Meaning i am never without my drill or the capacity to work longer. Due to its size and weight it is easy to work with overhead, on ladders and roofs as well as in tight sots and spaces. It has yet to fail to provide enough torque for any project i have needed,yet i obviously know when i need a corded drill for a job. So i highly recommend this drill for the average do it yourself-er and maybe as a addition to a home contractors tool kit.

I purchased this as a gift for my husband. He loved it! The drill is light weight, holds a charge well, and comes with accessories and a case. The 20-volt power is a plus, because it can do heavier duty type jobs. The only downside (as noted by other reviewers) is that the inside of the case is totally open. The drill just slides around in it. Hence, the 4-star vs. 5-star rating. We solved this problem by saving the cardboard insert that the drill was packed in to begin with. (The cardboard insert just sits in the case, and the drill sits inside the insert.) I got this on the Lightning Deal for $69 and free shipping... great price for a drill like this!

I like how it comes with everything that I need but like most of the other review, the compartment that holds the drill has nothing to hold it into place so it slides around.

Love the weight and feel of this tool, and used it right away on some small projects needing attention as my old Ni-Cad device was no longer holding a charge. The power seems reasonable, the included bits are nicely integrated into the case, so my deduction of the one star is as others have mentioned: the case does not have any foam or interior fittings to keep the drill in place, it will just rattle around in there, which makes no sense at all. Otherwise, very pleased and will just have to use some bubble wrap until I find some foam to cut to size.

Bought this drill for my husband. He loves it and was very happy with the power, size and weight of the drill plus the accessory kit made it a pretty sweet deal. As others have stated the case is awful. The area for the drill and battery has empty space and they're not really held into place. This is something I found to be bothersome but my husband doesn't seem to mind--we keep the case in the upright position so when we go to use it the drill doesn't slide around any and then we're just careful when setting it down instead of being rough enough to damage the drill.

I'm not sure why people think of Black & Decker as a somewhat inferior brand compared to others. I have used their products for a long time and have never been disappointed.

This is a great drill, and its smaller size is actually an advantage for me as you get portability, but you still get the power (I was actually surprised at how powerful this drill is).

Pros:
*Power - You will be pleasantly surprised!
*24-position clutch - Works as advertised. This also allows you to use the drill on more delicate items
*100-Piece Accessory Kit - This has a lot of the essential accessories to do most of your DIY projects at home. The great thing is they are actually pretty sturdy and are not of cheap quality.
*Price - Comparable drills from other brands are a lot more expensive.
*20-volt battery - Most are 18-volt or less,
*Size - Makes this drill very portable.

Cons
*Case - The case is horrible! The drill is floating in the case, without any fasteners holding it securely. Also the accessory holders could have been done better.
Size - While not a con for me personally, this could be problematic if you want to use large drill bits, as the chuck head is quite small.

I haven't used it till the battery drains fully, but so far it seems to hold the charge well.

First of all I'm a home DIYer, not a contractor, but this drill is great, I have a corded B&D that will finally get to rest after almost 20 years of service (still works fine). I've already used my new drill on masonry, dry wall and wood and had no problems. The accessories come in very handy.

Solid drill for the price. Was surprised at how light it was. Also, the tools that came with it came in handy.

I got this to use instead of my corded drill. It gets the job done and is a lot more convenient than a corded drill. However I must say that the case for the drill is awful. Its hard to get bits out, the drill just sits in big empty void. I do like that it has a slot on the back of the drill with a dual flathead/phillips bit in it for easy access.
