5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Safety Features
This heater is wonderful. You have the option of dialing the heat level desired and whether high or low heat, or you can have fan only, when the temparture is reached, it goes on stand-by mode. The unit also pumps out heat well. The safety feature that I love is the tilt feature, as soon as it doesn't lay flat on the floor (whether you lift it, or it gets knocked over),...

2.0 out of 5 stars Noisy and Hot
With all the noise this unit makes you'd think it had a powerful fan, but it does not, and as a result the casing gets very hot even on low heat setting. I've nearly burned myself. I'm scared of this thing on high heat setting.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for Hard Surface Floors! BEWARE!, December 19, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Black & Decker BDCH100 Ceramic Heater (Kitchen)
This heater vibrates across the floor until it meets up with something, hopefully NOT flammable! I have called Black & Decker about this problem, hoping to avoid someone getting hurt by it; but all they told me was, to write them a letter about my problem. I see that they are STILL selling this dangerous item. There is NO warning about it vibrating across hard surface floors. I have been unable to keep it from vibrating across the floor via anti-skid pads.
Before I knew of the danger, I went to sleep with it on in our bedroom. When my husband went to bed, luckily he turned on the light, because it was up against the bedding and still blowing very hot air.

The safety feature that I love is the tilt feature, as soon as it doesn't lay flat on the floor (whether you lift it, or it gets knocked over), it automatically turns off! There's also temperature safeties should the cord get too hot or should the unit itself get too hot (haven't run into this yet, but it's one of the features). The filter is easy to pull out to clean.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke after a few months, February 14, 2005

Lousy unit. Typically crappy Black & Decker product.

First the handle snapped off. We could live without the handle, though it did vibrate and make even more noise afterward, which was a drag in the bedroom.

Then the unit completely stopped working, even after great attempts to revive the patient.

Black & Decker is just a front for poorly made Chinese products. They refused to take a return (they have awful customer service). I've completely had it with this company.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little ceramic heater!, January 21, 2011

I purchased the Black & Decker BDCH100 years ago for someone but never got around to giving it to her. Recently, after moving to Oklahoma, I got it out and started using it this cold winter. It does everything it's supposed to do and it does it well! It can heat up a frigid bathroom in five to ten minutes. It does have an automatic shutoff if it gets too hot, BUT that is a safety feature!! I have used it for hours at a time on Low Heat without it shutting off. I highly recommend this little ceramic heater!

1.0 out of 5 stars Caution lights up and heater shuts down after only a few minutes, November 28, 2006
This review is from: Black & Decker BDCH100 Ceramic Heater (Kitchen)
The way this heater is suppposed to work is you choose your room setting and then turn the heater on. And then when it reaches your desired room temperature, you turn the thermostat control towards frost watch and that will turn the unit off. It should then cycle on and off to maintain the temperature.

What it actually does:
It's only been on a few minutes and the tempeature reading is just 12C but the heater already shuts off and the caution light is on.

Terribly disappointing product from a brand that you expect a lot from.
