Product Description

Amazon.com Review

With eight safety features and a "frost watch" setting that prevents frozen water pipes by turning on automatically if the temperature drops below 40 degrees F, this compact, lightweight, 1500- watt heater has a mind of its own when it comes to security. Measuring just 11-1/2 inches high, 9 inches wide, and 11-1/2 inches deep, the heater is readily portable, with a soft-grip handle and a cool-touch housing to ensure comfort. Other safety features include a fire shield to prevent an electrical fire by shutting off the heater if the power cord is damaged. The unit also shuts off if it overheats (a caution light warns if this occurs), if it tips or falls over, or if it is lifted. Suitable for floor, tabletop, shelf, or desk, the heater rests on big feet for stability. A fan-only setting circulates cool air in warm seasons, a switch sends the heater oscillating through a 90-degree arc to blanket a room in warmth, three settings adjust for room size, and a temperature control sets the heat level as desired. --Fred Brack

Product Description

Use the selector switch to choose the room size to heat. From small to large rooms, this heater is effective. This Oscillating Black & Decker heater fan also includes a series of safety features. Foremost is the exclusive Fireshield. This component is an ACLI power cord that not only turns the heater off if a shock hazard exists, but also turns the heater off if the line cord is damaged. The unit will also shut itself off when the unit is picked up or if it loses contact with the surface on which it is operating. In addition, it also features the added safety of auto shut off if the heater unit overheats. For convenience, this unit includes a frost watch thermostat - it can be set so that if room temperature drops below approximately 40 degrees, the heater will turn on to heat the room and prevent frost damage. Additional conveniences include a soft touch handle with cool touch housing and a fan only setting so it can be used year round.

5.0 out of 5 stars Black and Decker vs. Vornado, November 21, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Black & Decker BDHF300 Heater Fan (Kitchen)
I own two heaters: a Vornado and the Black and Decker. Both of these heaters are wonderful and I would recommend either equally. First, the safety features on both are outstanding. Neither are similar to the heaters we grew up with which were made of metal and glowed like charcoal. These both produce very good heat, quickly, and are nice to have if you do not wish to heat your entire home. The Black and Decker does have many safety features which is nice. Both have their pluses and I truly can't think of minuses for either. Order both!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best space heater ever made..., December 29, 2009
This review is from: Black & Decker BDHF300 Heater Fan (Kitchen)
I have owned this little workhorse for 7 years. It is safe with grandkids and pets, reliable as the sun, and very effective heating for a small to medium-sized area. Mine is finally giving up the ghost after all these years, and I plan on replacing it with another one just like it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a very good heater, February 6, 2007
This review is from: Black & Decker BDHF300 Heater Fan (Kitchen)
I work in an office in CT that is all glass. In the winter our central heating system has some trouble keeping up b/c it's very, very cold near the windows and this heater is NOT good. Other space heaters I've had are able to warm the room much quicker and maintain that temperature.

This heater doesn't get very hot. You can touch it when it's set to it's highest setting. I suppose it would be good to keep a storage room above freezing or maybe it'd be good around pets or kids since you couldn't possibly burn yourself on it.

For the price you're going to pay, I say skip this one and keep looking.
