For the money!,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Black & Decker BDSS100 16-inch Scroll Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased this saw from Amazon for my son to use doing fret and scroll work as he seemed interested in trying it for a hobby. After doing a little research and not wanting to make a large investment till it was clear he liked it I made a perfect choice. For the money invested in this saw it was clearly the best choice. For hundreds less than the saws I reviewed it has most all the features and specs. as the others. Now that he has one I want one also and for the money in my opinion it is the clear choice. The only drawback is when I purchased his it was $116.00 and eligible for the super saver shipping on (7/3/08)now it costs approx. $30.00 more for shipping and $4.00 more for the saw since super saver shipping is not available (7/27/08).Even so the saw is still a good choice.

Tension lever breaks after less than 2 months!,
By Rachelle Ayala (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Black & Decker BDSS100 16-inch Scroll Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've only used the scroll saw less than 14 times probably, and changed blades only 5-7 times, and guess what? Today when I was trying to tighten my blade, the tension lever breaks. Can't believe this. Now I'm going to have to call up Black and Decker and see if they can fix this. I can't get what is left of the screw out of the hole, otherwise I could have shimmed in a metal rod or something.
update: I used needlenose pliers to push the jagged edge of the broken screw around and around until it de-threaded. Now I use a Palm TX stylus in the hole in place of the broken lever. update: I've had it 3-1/2 months and the lower bladeholder just broke while changing blades. The metal broke right off! Now I have to figure out how to order the parts and punch out the spring pin holding the broken bladeholder... bummer! update: It's been a little less than a year, and now the saw won't switch on. Must figure out what's wrong... again. update: The switch was under warranty and they swapped it out. But now it is out of warranty and making a banging rattling sound. Will have to figure it out myself what is wrong.

Hated it and threw it out,

I was very excited about buying this, but it was so difficult assembling it correctly and getting the blade to stay in that I got disgusted with it and cut the cord off and threw it out. I wasn't going to give it away after throwing so much money and time on it.
