5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
4 years later, my blender still works perfectly and not once have I ever had a problem using it. I have no idea why these other people were so unlucky.Mine still crushes ice great. I guess I just got lucky, or maybe I somehow use it in a different way. All I know is my blender still crushes ice and makes delicious smoothies as well as the day I bought it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Blender
The first B&D blender lasted 3 uses and then quit. The motor just quit. The seller replaced it with the same model and it died after 3 uses too. Same problem. Granted, these are heavy duty uses. I blend up about 5 quarts of fruits, vegetables, and nuts once a week. If that old work horse can still cut it, these new B&D powerhouses should be able to last a lot longer than 3 uses! It is a powerful blender, but there is just no excuse for two blenders in a row biting it in exactly the same way.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS BLENDER, July 12, 2007
This review is from: Black & Decker BL10475 CrushMaster Blender, White (Kitchen)
I wish I would have read the reviews here BEFORE I purchased this piece of junk. Granted, mine lasted longer than some of the others (almost 18 months), but the end result is the same... a funny smell and then it just stops working. I called Black & Decker and all they would tell me was that it had been longer than the 12-month warranty period, and there was nothing they could do about it. I told them that it just didn't seem right, being that it had only been used a maximum of 40 times and that there must be some design flaw or something, but they didn't care. I told them that I had purchased this model because I thought it would be more durable, especially based on it's name (Crush Master). But the customer representative, and later a supervisor I spoke to said that "corporate" dictates what they can do.

I told the supervisor that it would seem that Black & Decker should be concerned about a product that has a problem that might be a result of faulty design, and further, they should be concerned with their customers who paid to have something that would last and not break down after only a dozen and a half uses. The supervisor only reiterated Black & Decker's policy. I then told her that I would NEVER buy another Black & Decker product ever again and I would tell my family and my friends and everyone I could to do the same. I suggest you follow suit.

1.0 out of 5 stars Product engineer should be fired, January 19, 2007

I have one comment for Applica, they should fire the engineers and product managers for this product. The Black & Decker line of blenders are riddled with design flaws and manufacturing flaws, it's a complete failure. You can't pay me enough to take one home again.

1) The screw groove of the glass jar seat is in the same direction as how you seat the entire assembly onto the blender motor assembly. When you are screwing the assembly into the bottom, you will end up unscrewing the glass jar from its seat. When you unscrewing apart the glass jar assembly from the motor assembly, you are again unscrewing the glass jar. The only way to safely aseemble the two pieces is to hold the white plastic seating piece. Hamilton Beach designed it correctly by using opposite screw grooves. This is the most irritating flaw on these blenders.

2) the motor is sooooooooo loud, even with nothing in the blender, it sounded like this thing is ready to take down the house.

3) reliability doesn't exist. I blend one protein shake a day, just protein powder and water at low speed--probably the least power demanding blending job I can think of. After 1 week, that's 5 uses, the motor gave out. My other 15 year old Hamilton Beach is still going strong.

4) the motor vibrates so much, the plastic glass-jar cap will loosen up and pop open during blending. This would allow liquid to splatter all over.

Total piece of junk. If you want to buy an inexpensive blender, go for Hamilton Beach.

1.0 out of 5 stars Motor burned out after two weeks., January 18, 2007

After about a week of use this blender was working fine for me. However, in its second week of use the motor seemed to be making noise, slowing down, & creating a burnt smell that one usually doesn't want to smell from household appliances. I wasn't working the blender too much...simply making a half pitcher of smoothies once a day. By the end of week two the motor finally called it quits. It died a painful death by emitting smoke out of the bottom of the blender. In short, this blender really sucked. I would expect a little more durability from a product with "Crush Master" in its title.

1.0 out of 5 stars Seriously flawed and prone to break, November 14, 2008
This review is from: Black & Decker BL10475 CrushMaster Blender, White (Kitchen)
I bought one of these blenders just for making fruit smoothies from frozen berries, bananas, and orange juice, which I did a few times a week for about a year. At first I liked it because it seemed very powerful and there were no problems. In fact, my girlfriend needed a blender at the time, and I recommended she get the exact same one and she did. About a year later, my girlfriend and I got married and so we had 2 of the same blenders in our house. We were just using mine and put hers back in its box. Within a matter of a few weeks, I was making a smoothie and the plastic gear that makes the blade spin cracked. We were annoyed, but we figured, at least we have another blender; we'll just use that. We used it for a few days - within a week, the exact same thing happened to hers. Black & Decker will only offer to sell us a replacement part for $27.90, which is almost as much as buying an entire new blender, and I have to wonder how long that replacement part will last. Save your money and time and DO NOT buy this blender.

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointed with this blender, October 17, 2008
This review is from: Black & Decker BL10475 CrushMaster Blender, White (Kitchen)
This blender was bought for chirstmas last year, and it fell apart on me.
Actually, it's inner gear that is made ofplastic broke. to replace the part will cost me $20 for shipping and part. That is crazy.
I did not keep my receipts due to it being a simple product. The last blender i had was an old green one from the 80's and that was the best. I did not have to replace it, just tha i wanted one new an more modern looking... This is not recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless, December 9, 2009

This review is from: Black & Decker BL10475 CrushMaster Blender, White (Kitchen)
I bought this blender specifically to make smoothies and frozen drinks. I assumed from "Crush Master" and the Ice Crush button that it would work well for this. The manual says no more than 6 ice cubes at a time. This won't even crush two cubes and one of the blades has bent. Also, the motor is so very loud, it's painful.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap plastic "teeth" on the base broke off in multiple places, October 12, 2009
By
This review is from: Black & Decker BL10475 CrushMaster Blender, White (Kitchen)
The black plastic "teeth" that connect the base to the blade assembly broke in several places during use, made a terrible noise, and the pieces fell all over the counter when I removed the jar.

Despite the name, and the claim, that this blender can crush ice, I've never used it for that purpose. I make smoothies, blend pesto sauce, and puree cooked vegetable and blackbean soups. Any blender should be able to easily handle such tasks.

I bought B & D because I like their power tools, but I'll never buy another kitchen appliance from them. This is shoddy engineering using cheap components.

When I called to find the location of the nearest B & D repair place, Customer Service told me that there are no parts for this model and that to have it repaired by a small appliance shop would cost more than buying a new one! The motor is good, the blade assembly is fine, the jar is a good one - but this blender is now USELESS!

I'm updating my review to say that after over 2 years of constant use, my blender is still working great. I was surprised at these other reviews. It's sad that this fell apart on other people. Mine never did anything funky. Nothing has ever splattered. It is easy to use. I never see smoke. Maybe I just got lucky.

This little blender is incredible...I had purchased a $45 smoothie maker 1 1/2 years ago from QVC that was always hard to clean, the blade section fell off and then liquid splattered all over my kitchen plus ice cubes were never finely crushed. It also made an ungodly loud noise and instead of the 15 seconds that smoothies were supposed to take, it took around 2-3 minutes to make lumpy ones. Finally last week it just plain died.

I decided to just get a little cheapie blender til I could shell out another 50 bucks for a "real" smoothie maker, so for 18.99 I chose this little Black & Decker. At first sight I thought it would be barely able to blend ice cream and milk. Was I ever wrong!!!!!

I used the ice crusher setting first, following the directions which said add 6 cubes plus some water. I was stunned! The cubes were crushed to a perfect sno-cone consistency in about 5 seconds, if that! Then I made a smoothie with frozen blueberries, using the smoothie setting. It was perfect, and only took about 10 seconds!

Its true that the container is plastic and not huge, so you can only make like 1 serving at a time. But the speed of this thing is so great that it would go fast if you had to make 1 smoothie at a time for 12 people. I intend to purchase another one just in case, but I am so pleased with this wonderful blender I had to write a review.

And it has so many settings. It has a speed control button, for fast and slow, so whichever setting you choose, you have a separate button to increase or reduce the speed as you go along. It has the pulse button as well as the ice crusher button. If you buy this you won't regret it even at the $26 price it is worth every penny.

I have had this blender for 5 years and use it probably once a week for smoothies. I have had no problems except that it does get stuck once in a while with larger or hard items (like frozen fiberous fruit) but it does a decent job with clear ice. It is, however, loud. I was a bit shocked with all the negative reviews here. I don't pay a lot for blenders and this is the best one I've had for the price. If you want a Vitamix/Blendtec performance you are going to have to pay the high price for it--this is not that type of machine.
