For cocktails, smoothies, soups, pasta sauces, baby food, and anything else you can think of blending, the BL450 has the setting to do it. This 10-speed blender stirs, purées, chops, crumbs, blends, beats, liquefies, grates, and whips, plus has a pulse button for quick spurts of speed. Two special functions include an ice-crushing button for perfect margaritas or daiquiris and a Fast Clean button that whirls warm water and detergent around the jar for five minutes to loosen stuck-on food particles. Made of shatterproof plastic, the jar holds 48 ounces of ingredients and has a spout for spill-free pouring. The stainless-steel four-pronged blade breaks up ice and softened fruits and vegetables with no problem and is dishwasher-safe. The jar and the base lock together securely to prevent blending accidents and rubber feet on the base keep it stable on a countertop. This blender broke down three months after purchase. Thinking I just happened to get a lemon, I contacted B&D and they replaced it (at a cost of $5 to me for shipping). Three months later - the same result. In both cases the blades froze up and refused to spin. What happened to the good ole days when Planned Obsolescence waited at least a year to kick in?

I have purchased 2 of these blenders and I am sorry to say it was a BIG mistake!!! We had to by a new ring for it within 2 months and then the blade assembly cracked. so we bought a new one and less then 4 months later the new one also had the blade assembly cracked... Very shoddy blenders!!!!

I'm surprised at the price I got this for, but at the same time the only gripe I have is that the top is so tight it's REALLY hard to take off at times. Overall though, the product is wonderful and I'm VERY pleased with it!! I would give 4.5 stars, but I can't go 1/2 star.

If you are looking for a blender that isn't costly and is great to whip up smoothies, milkshakes or anything in a hurry, this is a great choice, at a great price!!! I definitely recommend it!!!
