Black and Decker's BR400 is turning the sanding world upside down. The powerful 6 amp, 3-by-21-inch belt sander includes inversion clamps to convert the sander into a shaper for sanding a variety of woodworking pieces. It runs an aggressive pace of 800 sfpm for quick material removal, but it can easily be secured to a worktable with our exclusive inversion clamps and be turned upside down and used as a shaper. The design of the sander allows for sanding flush to vertical surfaces such as floors and along walls. A comfortable ergonomic design with contoured front handle provides a secure grip. The sander has a convenient two-finger trigger with lock-on button for continuous use. An easy-to-use belt release lever makes changing sandpaper a snap. A pro-style belt-tracking knob sets the sanding belt for accurate alignment and gives control over the auto-tracking features on other consumer belt sanders. The sander includes dust bag and medium grit sanding belt.

This is not a high quality tool, but for someone like me that only uses a belt sander to fix a mistake, it is just fine. I would love to have a bosch, makita or dewalt and those are the sanders I would reccommend for heavy duty use, but I only use mine to strip old or mistake finishes and this tool seems to work just fine.

This was a good tool for what I used it for until the main drive belt broke (a $3.48 part). All websites show it is discontinued and not other substitutions are available. Basically it is a paperweight now and I will have to buy a new sander. I can understand discontinuing some parts, but parts like the drive belt which WILL break in time, shouldn't be unavailable. Two stars just because it did last a year with intermittent use.
