When it works, the BV4000 is worth the money. But I've owned 2 and both would stop for no reason. I had the switch fixed by B&D and that worked for about a season, then, again the switch problem. Hitting the switch with my hand would solve the problem for about 10 seconds and then it would stop again. The only permanent result was a sore hand. Shaking the unit just made it worse. Let's face it, the switch is poorly made. Buyer Beware!

I wish I had read the reviews of the b&d blower/vac before buying one. I used it for 5 minutes and sparks flew out of it. I used a 12 guage extension cord so the problem was with the machine. Buy the newest craftsman blower/vac-better quality. Cost the same as well.

The Leaf Hog is everything it claims to be.
Powerful motor, mulches good and easy to clean.
Would recommend to everyone.

This unit has worked very well for me EXCEPT for the leaf bag. Its attachment to the blower is flimsy (plastic clips) and it got to the point where it would not hold at all. Black and Decker does not sell replacement bags, so the only option is to buy a new unit. This has me angry enough at the company that I will probably buy a Toro unit!

I too had sparks flying out after a few minutes of use. Afterwards it stopped working. Very disappointed because I have an older version of it and never had such problems. I returned it and went with the Toro model. No problems yet.

Great product. I have one already and bought this one for my brother for his birthday.

product was all it was advertised to be. Assembly was easy and I was using the product 20 mins. after unwrapping it.

We just bought it tonight from ACE hardware and once we got it out it looked used. Like someone returned it and they just boxed it back up. It was working with good power both blowing and mulching but then started to spark inside it. I'm sorry but if something sparks within MINUTES of use.. you should think about recalling it. Taking it back tomorrow and getting a TORO.

I do NOT recommend this product. Go with a TORO, I've heard nothing but GOOD about them. Same speed and power, and $10 cheaper.

I've had mine for 3 seasons and really it works great, especially the blower but then it just stopped working one day I was using it, power just cut off for no reason and I have always used it with those orange industrial outdoor cords. I would of expected it to work longer from something from Black and Decker. When it worked it worked great but the life of this was just to short.

I bought this blower/vac two years ago and it worked fine for about a year. Then last summer, I noticed that the motor began to spark. Concerned, I went online to find if anyone else had experienced these sparks. Some reviews I read said that it was "normal operation" for Black & Decker blower/vac model. I put a little oil in the motor and continued using it. It seemed to continue to work fine, other than the sparks. Today, it just quit while I was cleaning my driveway.

I had also bought a B&D cordless grass trimmer about five years back. It lasted about two years and then it quit working. Wouldn't work, even with a new battery. I only got to replace the spool once.

Black & Decker should stick to drills and such...
