This is a very handy tool to have. Unlike many other heat guns, you can easily dial down the heat so you can safely use it for delicate materials or crank it up for paint stripping. The temperature range, as listed by B&D, is 100 to 1,100 degrees. I think the upper end is a bit optimistic - after using it, I would estimate the top temperature at about 850 to 900. It has a two speed fan.

I don't use a heat gun often but, when I do, I need one that is flexible enough for jobs ranging from defrosting a freezer, to softening caulk for removal, and all the way up to stripping paint from outdoor furniture. This is the only one I've found that offers that broad of a temperature range at a reasonable price. Used it several times, and it works great. Lots of attachments for controlling the heat spread, plus a set of scrapers for getting the softened paint off. It also includes a plastic carry case with inserts to hold all the attachments securely.

There's another model out there called the HomeRight C800552. It is identical to the B&D model other than for color. The B&D has a 2 year warranty; the HomeRight has a 1 year warranty. Take a look at both to see if there's any price differential before you put in your order.

As with any B&D product, it is not contractor-grade, or even heavy-duty homeowner grade. If you have lots of paint stripping to do, or you expect to use your heat gun frequently for long stretches of time, invest in a more capable tool such as the line made by Milwaukee. You'll pay a lot more, but you'll get a lot more tool as well. This model is intended for light homeowner use and, as such, is a great value for the price and a very handy tool to have.

Great price for a variable temperature, 2-speed heat gun with tools and case. I believe this kit is ideal for general purpose use. Having variable temperature and 2-speed capability is critical, and the temperature setpoint LED indicators are very useful user feedback that assist in avoiding unintended damage. The tools included in the kit greatly widen the usefulness of the heat gun for additional applications that would otherwise be difficult or impossible without makeshift adapters, and the case provides convenient, organized storage, and includes individual nests for each tool to keep them from flopping around. Somebody was really thinking when they designed this kit, having covered all the bases. This kit is perfect for my needs.

Given my generally low opinion of Black & Decker, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this kit when it arrived. It is suitable for everything from low-temp shrink wrap to melting solder. VERY well made with properly designed controls and more fittings than I will likely ever use.

Great Product. I have been restoring the boarder in the living room of my apartment and sanding wasn't cutting it. This was old house with at least 6 layers of paint on the boarder. I tried you an earth friendly chemical paint remover and that barely took anything off and was really messy. I decided to buy this heat gun and it worked like a charm for the most part. I say most part because some of the paint wouldn't bubble up to peel off but there are certain kinds of paint a heat gun wont work on. The sections it did work on though, it scraped right off; no saw dust, no sludgy chemicals, and no drop cloths. I just had to sweep the chunks up when I was done.

Looked at a lot of hot air heat guns and kits. Could not find one that matched this one for price and contents. The accessories are great especially the one for removing paint on moulding and the one for heat shrink tubing. The heat settings helped me use only the amount I needed especially when removing paint where I wanted to protect surrounding areas or not use to much heat on the tubing.

This item did not work upon arrival. I ended up trying to see if a local store would exchange it and they did. After that, I was using it in no time at all. Overall, if it is delivered in working condition, you will be happy.

I use this for DIY electronics reflowing and it works great. The carrying case is convenient and nicely organized for all the attachments. I use this item a few times a month and so far have had no issues at all.
The temperature controls could be a little higher quality; feels a bit cheap and not very accurate but with my infrared thermometer Im able to regulate the temperature carefully. I expect this item will continue to perform for many years.

This was a purchase for my husband. He loves it and says he has used it more times than he ever thought he would. The variable heat settings are very helpful.

whoever wrote this thing does not produce sufficent heat must not have read the instructions. This item gets extremely hot, definately sufficient for doing just about any job that requires heat. Way hotter than a blow dryer, does not even compare!!! If you tried using this to dry your hair on the highest setting, you would not be to happy.
