I was previously using all gas powered yard tools, blower, hedge trimmer, string trimmer, great products but loud, smelly and sometimes difficult to start. I had been looking at electric powered products to get rid of those trips to the gas station, however, pulling an electrical cord around my yard did not appeal to me at all. Then i came across this kit on amazon. The Black & Decker is a good one IMO so i took a chance and ordered from amazon.

I have been highly satisfied the battery power last well enough on my 12,000 square foot lot. The tool are nice and quiet and i can do my yard work early in the morning without disturbing the neighbors. I must say all 3 products work great for their intended purpose. The bonus IMO is the batter charger mount that can charge all three included batteries at the same time. Also, the mountable storage station is great and makes storing the equipment easy. My father came over and was hooked on these and placed an order the next day, great products at a great price from amazon what could be better, lol.......

**UPDATE**04/17/2010

Im still using this same equipment right at 5 YEARS! later and they work great. Im still using 2 of the 3 B&D batteries that I purchased for the set. I was just searching for new batteries and could not believe its been 5 years that this equipment and batteries have lasted, well worth the money for the quality and ease of use.

**UPDATE**10/19/2011

The set is still working fantastic, no issues whatsoever with the equipment. I did replace all three batteries back in April 2011 to the B&D Firestarter series and they worked great. I also have the B&D electric mower I purchased 6 years ago and the only thing ive done is changed the blade 2 years ago, it works great. The yard equipment hangs in my garage with the mount provided so are there through the heat and cold for now 6 years and NO ISSUES...HIGHLY Recommended product.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm completely satisfied, and so are my neighbors..., April 10, 2005

This review is from: Black & Decker CCC3000 18-Volt Cordless Electric Lawncare Center (Lawn & Patio)
UPDATE: I've owned this set for over 2 1/2 years now, and I only like it more. I've seen no drop off in battery power, and I find more uses for the blower than I would have thought. It's great for blowing sawdust out of my garage and I even use it to help dry my car after I wash it. The weed wacker continues to function like a champ, and the pruner, though rarely used, works great. There's nothing like cordless electric for convenience!

More than a few reviewers have complained about short run times with these tools. I have no such complaints. In fact, I find that one charge on one battery is enough to edge and weed-whack my front and back yards and trim my hedges.

A lot of people don't seem to understand that in places where people want to live yards are getting smaller and smaller. In San Diego, in a subdivision built 25 years ago, my front and back yards combined are about 1500 square feet. My friend just bought a new luxury home in San Diego that has a "postage stamp" front yard. There isn't even enough room to park a Camry on his grass.

Another friend in Tennessee recently purchased a multi-thousand dollar commercial lawn mower with a 52" cutting path to mow the grass on his property. This set is perfect for most San Diego lawns (and even those that are a fair bit larger), but it's not going to be nearly as suitable to a backwoods Tennessee lot.

Before you buy these, think. The larger your yard, the less suitable you'll find these. So if your property is much larger than the average subdivision lot, these probably aren't for you. And it's just common sense that the larger your lot is, the more batteries you'll need. If you have a larger yard, don't buy the set and then whine about having to switch out batteries. These aren't made for your two acre property in the sticks!

As you would expect, the blower does not rival the performance of a corded model. But it blows hard enough for most lawn care needs (it will move grass clippings and loose dirt). The weed whacker (string trimmer) is great. The head pivots for edging and the automatic line feed system works great.

The hedge trimmer is even better. I have a much smaller rechargeable Black and Decker hedge trimmer with an internal battery pack. I use it for most of my shrubs because it is lighter and more maneuverable. I only use the one included with this kit on a few larger hedges, and it performs well.

I had been using corded electric tools, but the cords were always such a hassle that I found myself putting off yard work. Gas tools would be overkill. They require too much maintenance and I don't want to store gasoline. These cordless tools are the perfect compromise. I'm just sorry that I didn't buy them sooner.

There is a noticeable difference in the power between my corded and cordless tools. While operating, the corded tools seem to operate at a higer speed and with more torque.

The most noticeable difference between the corded and cordless tools is the much reduced airflow speed with the cordless blower. As to the other tools, I suspect that if I went to clear some particularly thick weeds the cordless string trimmer might bog down. I similarly suspect that the hedge trimmer might bog down if I was trimming thick branches with it. So I'm keeping my corded tools for those rare occasions that I might need them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised, July 27, 2004
This review is from: Black & Decker CCC3000 18-Volt Cordless Electric Lawncare Center (Lawn & Patio)
I have an acre of lawn, and was tired of starting my gas trimmer. I could not use a corded trimmer because I would spend most of my time moving the cord around.

I then stumbled onto this product. I read the reviews and the one I found most useful stated that they bought the trimmer and the blower, and that they use both batteries to trim their lawn.

Well, I found that this combo pack was a good deal, since you basically get a tool and battery for free!

I really like the triple charger! One plug has three charging stations.

It takes almost two entire batteries for me to trim my yard. I have about 400 feet of edging and 18 trees. If I edge my sidewalk (250 feet) I use about a quarter of the third battery.

The AFS string system works well, maybe a little too well. I find that I get about 1.5 trimming session before I need to replace the spool. I bought the 300 foot spool instead of the individual ones.

Please keep in mind, I trim mostly grass. If I trimmed weeds, which are thicker then grass, I do not think that this trimmer would work well.

OK, this is a review of the $199.99 price that at first glance looks like a great deal. Then I noticed that the sets that are being sold now only have two batteries and a two battery charger included. Most of the reviews you will read on this product are from people that bought the set before 2010, when three batteries and a three port charger were included.

So when you break down the cost you have to take into consideration that when you buy individually, each tool comes with its own batterys and chargers.

NST2018 Grass Hog-$99.00 with two batteries and a two port charger
NHT518 Hedge Trimmer-$79.99 with one battery and charger
NS118 Cordless Electric Broom-$69.97 with one battery and charger

That's a total of 248.96 for the three tools and FOUR batteries with chargers. If you try to buy the two batteries and two chargers that are not included in the kit individually it breaks down like this:

FSMC Battery Charger-$27.26
FSB18 FSB18-OPE Battery-$36.19

Multiply by two and add together to get $126.90 for the batteries and chargers that aren't included.

For me, this kit is not worth it because most people use two batteries when using one of the tools. So if I wanted to use all the tools the same day I would have to charge the batteries and wait. OR buy another charger and battery but then I would be spending:

199.99 for the kit + $27.26 for the charger + $36.19 for the battery = $263.44

Alright, to sum it up if you only need to use one of these tools at a time and don't need the batteries then this kit is alright for you. However, if you are like most people that will use two or more of these tools at the same time, then you will need the extra batteries. BUY THE TOOLS SEPARATELY! You will save big bucks on batteries and chargers and not be restricted to only two batteries.

5.0 out of 5 stars great "bang for the buck" for the AVERAGE home-owner, June 21, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Black & Decker CCC3000 18-Volt Cordless Electric Lawncare Center (Lawn & Patio)
for the owner of a "modest" yard,..this is an INCREDIBLE bang for the buck. the weed trimmer and the hedge trimmer did their jobs excellently and the sweeper exceeded my expectations to the Nth degree. ALL THREE tools were up-to-the-task of trimming, hedging, edging and sweeping. i was MOST concerned about battery life. i manicured my entire yard with ALL THREE tools with nary a gasp from the battery (15-20 minutes use from each,..NOT counting pauses between "uses"). the package comes with a 3-station battery charger AND a "hanging station" for all three tools (PLUS,..you can pick up an extra 18 volt battery or two at your local megastore IF you need it [for large yards]). i could not be happier.....weeds and grass got whacked, my various hedges got trimmed AND my carport and driveway were cleared of debris in a matter of moments. AND....THE NOISE....DID I MENTION THE NOISE??? THAT'S BECAUSE THESE ARE VERY QUIET, NEIGHBORHOOD-FRIENDLY POWER TOOLS. i am quite satisfied and would HIGHLY recommend the CCC3000 kit to ANYONE with "fairly" modest lawn care needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal Yard Care Center for a 1 Acre Yard, July 8, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Black & Decker CCC3000 18-Volt Cordless Electric Lawncare Center (Lawn & Patio)
I have used cordless grass/hedge trimmers in the past but have been only moderately happy with them as they are not very powerful and don't have long run times on a charge. I prefer them over gas or corded units though and so I have stuck with them.

Recently my old cordless grass trimmer died on me and I did some searching on the internet for a new unit. I came across the Black & Decker CCC3000 18-Volt Cordless Lawncare Center with Charging & Storage Station during my searching and it seemed to offer significant improvements with the 3 interchangeable batteries and a 3 battery charger station.

We have about a 1 acre yard which is largely grass with some trees/shrubs around the house. With the 3 interchangeable batteries and the 3 battery charging station included with the CCC3000, I can get all the grass trimming done on one set of charges. The grass trimmer is powerful enough when running on a well charged battery. Same with the hedge trimmer which does a nice job on trimming yews, junipers, cedars, cottoneasters. The blower is a nice extra to get the grass/debris off the driveway and sidewalk. The package is reasonably priced and replacement batteries can be purchased. The batteries are recycable and the cost of recycling is prepaid.

I don't recommend items that I have purchased unless I have been very pleased them. This Black & Decker CCC3000 18-Volt Cordless Lawncare Center with Charging & Storage Station is one that I recommend.

I don't think 'Tim Taylor' men will like this unless they have a small yard, but it's perfect for women.I was sick of dragging miles of elec. cords behind me and untangling them from car tires etc. I could not manage gas tools, so with much hesitation I bought this set. I LOVE not having the cord! The weight of the weedeater is about the same as my elec. one and it did a really good job even on tough sprouting privet hedge(the enemy).Battery time was about 20 min. The hedge trimmer was very lightweight and battery time was 25 min. The blower was not roaring loud and not too heavy and works great on concrete but did not blow off the graveled areas of my garden. Battery time was only 13 minutes and I have alot of concrete areas. I would still rather do it this way than drag the cord.
I will have to just do one 'chore' at a time and use all 3 batteries. The batteries are very easy to connect to the equipment.. just pop them in.
I also love the safety feature so if you accidentally hit the trigger when it's off it won't start.
I wish that BD could find a way for longer battery time and then I would give it ten stars.

Tried all three units. The guard on the trimmer serves as a trim guide. The trimmer cuts through the suckers that sprout at the base of harvested trees. The blower is just fine for clearing debris from the porch and deck. Can't get much easier. Don't worry much about dead batteries. With the three supplied, normal use is not a problem. If I REALLY want heavy duty (for the few times I need it) gas is the way to go. But who wants the stink and bother?? For the price I paid, my son was amazed the wacker had an auto line feed.

This would probably work fine if you owned a condo or apartment and just a sidewalk and very small yard. The hedge trimmers worked the best out of the group, but I did have to make several passes before it got everything. The blower worked ok also, but again several passes had to be made. The weed eater was fine for grass, but it couldn't do anything with over grown ivy.

Have used this set for the first time the other day and am very happy to say all three tools work great. the ease of use of cordless is just fantastic! The trimmer worked great on ivy and though I feel a little like I sold out with the blower (can't stand the pollution; noise and exhaust) it is quiet and if used responsibly is great to have for those hard to reach/sweep areas. I would highly recommend.
