I think this chopper is Great. It does a great job grinding coffee beans also. I have the oven/toaster, coffer maker, and can opener and I love them all. I have a very small kitchen and they are just what I needed.

I wholeheartedly support the previous comment on the quality of the grinding related to coffee.
To use this appliance for coffee is just not recommended. I was hoping to use it for french press coffee, but the result is too coarse, although you can get by in a pinch.

I expect it can do the job for herbs and other easier stuff.

Oh, another drawback. It is not terribly easy to clean either.

*Update* After owning it for 10 months the plastic container cracked, the Black & Decker warranty is still valid but there are no ways of figuring out where to turn to have it effected...
11 months in the unit failed entirely, five call centres in I still have to figure out where to turn to have my warranty effected...

Not impressed.

Not only is this grinder good for coffee, it is super easy to chop any thing with the second container.
I chopped cabbage for my coleslaw and it was really easy.

UGH! So my husband spent an hour installing this under the shelf. We get it up, we go to use it and it doesn't grind fine. We do some adjusting and realize you first have to chop it with one of the cups/blades, then use the other cup/blade to grind it. It takes a while to get to the "fine" grind we like and are accustomed to.

It's annoying, but we decide it's worth it for the counter space saved. That is until it broke today. We've used it a total of three times and one of the plastic pieces that holds the blade on the fine grind cup breaks off.

We're going to go through the hassle of contacting B&D as it will cost too much to return and be a PIA to unmount. But save yourself some time and grief-- buy a different grinder.

The thing I like about this mini chopper/grinder is that it sits up under the counter out of the way, ready to go at a moments notice with zero countertop footprint. One container chops onions, garlic, nuts, whatever; the other grinds coffee. This is not a Cuisinart nor does it give Cuisinart results but it grinds and chops acceptably well without having to drag the heavy blender out of the cabinet. So many times I want fresh ground coffee in the morning but dread having to go thru the whole routine to get out the grinder, finding a plug, etc.--all this while still half asleep. With the B&D, I just twist off the container, use it to scoop some beans out of the coffee canister, twist it back on and press a button. The grinder turns on, grinds the beans and shuts itself off....and voila! Fresh coffee.

Whenever I just want to grab a quick hotdog, I find myself passing up the pleasure of having a few chopped onions on it due to the hassle of chopping them. With this device, I can just cut off an onion wedge, toss it into the chopper and 10 sec later, I have chopped onions for my hot dog. When I'm finished with it, a shot of liquid soap and a quick rinse, and everything is clean again.

And aesthetically, the unit looks good and looks current in the kitchen. I also have the matching B&D coffee maker and B&D can opener. The blue power-on light is currently the "up-to-date" appliance light color, replacing the older reds and greens power-on lights.

IMO, for $25 and free shipping, the Black & Decker chopper/grinder is a no-brainer for me.

I just got this to match my Spacemaker Coffeemaker and Toaster oven. It works great - does a fast thorough job. I love the options on the coffee grinder for type of grind and size of coffee bean batch. I ground a three pound bag of coffee very quickly. I have one of those generic coffee grinders and it doesn't work nearly as well - I probably got done in half the time with this unit. I also chopped carrots to add to soup broth and it did a quick and thorough job. (I replaced the KitchenAid 3 cup grinder/chopper that is almost new, but has issues with the safety lock mechanism.)

One thing I would wish for if this could change - on the coffee grinder jar, I wish that the arrow to lock the jar in position was a brighter color, but maybe as I use it more I'll get quicker at lining it up. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase.

I got this coffee grinder when I got the under the cabinet can opener and coffee maker. Having all 3 under the cabinet, side by side, looks pretty sharp while keeping your countertops uncluttered in the kitchen. For that, I would give it 5 stars. But, after using only a couple times, I had to replace the bottom chopper bowl as the gears stripped out after only a few uses. The new one does okay although it seems to make a mess when grinding coffee; or perhaps that is the operator (me)? Black & Decker does not have the quality standards it once use to have which is the reason for only 3 stars. But it does grind coffee and also items like cabbage for cole slaw. I would recommend only if you have other under the counter items to have a matching set.

Easiest grinder I ever used. Makes a super fine espresso grind if desired, which I always do. Easy to clean. Great having it mounted under the cabinet. Not a burr grinder, but still works great. Never used it for anything but coffee.

I bought this grinder with the intent to use it primarily as a coffee grinder. However, it produces and extremely coarse and uneven grind. It is unusable as an espresso grinder too - even when choosing the smallest grind setting, even if I ran it through two complete cycles, it wouldn't get anywhere near where it needed to be for espresso.
