4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good for the price
I bought it to clean up cat litter around my cats' box. It does the job intended, and does it well. I haven't tried using it on anything wet yet. The only qualm I have with it is that it stores what you've vacuumed up in the sides of the actual part that sucks up, so if you tilt it wrong or lift it up it all falls out...

1.0 out of 5 stars DustBlower
All it does is take the dust from the floor and blow it straight into my eyes from the side vents in the unit. Its more of a torture to use it. It's a pain to clean out because all the debris that did manage to stay in the thing gets stuck to the foam piece in the dust bucket. Honestly a broom and pan is easier and less painfull.

1.0 out of 5 stars Batteries die too quickly., December 1, 2008

I think we've had ours for five months or so. The batteries are so weak now that it'll barely pick up anything. I opened up the casing and it looks like it only has one rechargable battery...about the size of a single "C" battery. This wouldn't be so bad if you could maybe order a replacement battery, but this isn't an option, so whenever this dies you have to buy a whole new one. Great marketing by B & D, but very bad for our polluted planet.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst DustBuster ever - AVOID!!!, January 29, 2010

I've owned several B&D DustBuster's in my life including the original from the early 80's. Since that time, overall design, battery performance, and suction has improved -- for the most part. They still all eventually die and therefore require replacement every few years.

Having great success with our impressively powerful 9.6V Dustbuster (model CHV9600, purchased in 2006), we picked up this 7.2V (model CHV7202) for the laundry room since it claims to be a wet/dry vac and I figured 7.2V would be close in performance to the 9.6V.

Boy was I wrong!

From Day One, the suction on this model was so poor, it couldn't even pick up tiny bits of dryer lint on the floor! Our 9.6V model could handle anything you could throw at (as long as the items fit through the opening). But this one? Not even close. To make matters worse, I mounted the charging unit on the wall only to find out that it's quite a challenge to actually "dock" the vac for charging due to it's poor design, so we almost never dock it. In fact, we now bring the 9.6V model upstairs to tackle the tasks that this one failed to do.

In short: I'm not sure who greenlighted this model over at B&D, but they should have been fired. Avoid this one at all costs and get the current 9.6V model (or above). We wanted to return ours, but we made this mistake of tossing out the box.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT GOOD, July 30, 2011

This women took the words rate out of my mouth when she said "All it does is take the dust from the floor and blow it straight into my eyes from the side vents in the unit. Tossing this one in the garbage and buying one that is not such a mess.

Not a bad little vac for the price. I use it in my motorhome. The only thing I don't like is the way the charger plugs in.

2.0 out of 5 stars a disappointment, November 8, 2009

Having owned a B&D DustBuster in college, I decided to purchase a Wet/Dry model after leaving my trusty handheld vac to my former roomate.

Everyone has different needs, my goals for the DustBuster were fairly simple: pick up dust/dirt after sweeping up and light vacuuming. I do not have pets, but live in a city, where dust can accumulate even after daily cleaning and swiffing.

I thought that this device would do they job - how wrong I was!

* has a foam insert to filter dirt: rather than an easy dump-the-dirt-into-the-waste action, the dirt/dust gets stuck to the foam insert. As a result, you have to wear gloves or use your hands to try and shake the dust out of the foam insert.

* side vents let blow dust and air out of the device: side vents from the device allow dust to blow out of the device. If you position the DustBuster at a certain angle (which you will be, of course, b/c you are vacuuming dirt) the wind blows so hard, it looks like you're drying your hair.

I was looking forward to the Wet/Dry feature to help clean after cooking in the kitchen (e.g. when you peel a carrot and some bits fall into the ground), but it's so cumbersome. I wish I could get a refund, but this is just a waste of space in my tiny NYC apt - I'll probably donate it to charity.

This device works fine for vacumming hair off the ground, but dust just exits out of the side vents. Also, the amount of air blowing out of the device just blows dirt around. I have heard good thing about Dyson and will prob. go with one next even if it is corded.

3.0 out of 5 stars Vacuum Cleaner review, July 15, 2009
This review is from: Black & Decker CHV7202 7.2-Volt Cordless Wet/Dry DustBuster (Kitchen)
This a decent product for the price. The capacity is small, and I am deployed in Afghanistan, so the filter doesn't catch all the dust and dirt. Every ten seconds a cloud of smoke expels from the vents, and makes more of a mess than to start with. Hope it will work better when I get home.

4.0 out of 5 stars No problems so far, December 17, 2009
This review is from: Black & Decker CHV7202 7.2-Volt Cordless Wet/Dry DustBuster (Kitchen)
I bought this vac to clean up after my toddler. It does exactly what it was intended for. Picks up food (wet and dry) off of the high chair leaving no mess. I'm sure this vacuum is meant for little jobs, the people leaving bad reviews should invest in a real vacuum cleaner if they have a need for bigger cleanups!!

1.0 out of 5 stars bad design, May 2, 2010
This review is from: Black & Decker CHV7202 7.2-Volt Cordless Wet/Dry DustBuster (Kitchen)
I wanted to use it on carpet area in dining room, and in car. It does pick the dust (and other food particles etc), to blow it on my face and distribute fine particles all over the place. Highly disappointed with this product.
